Safety campaign

A safety campaign may only reduce the willingness of the worlcforce to report an accident rather than significantly reducing the underlying accident occurrences and hazards. 

The safety "campaign" must not be a one-shot exercise because then the effects will be short-lived (not more than 6 months). This makes the use of such campaigns costly in the long nm despite the initial appearance of a cheap solution to e problem of human error. 

With miles of tarred roads around the smelter shared by metal transport vehicles, contractors vehicles, and bicycles, a major road safety campaign was implemented. Two security personnel were selected and sent to the local municipality for training and were appointed as traffic controllers. They patrolled the roads and issued friendly warnings to traffic rule offenders. Safety culture change is what many safety professionals do on a smaller scale, often with frustrating results. This category of injury is used because this is the degree of injury that is mostly recognized in the safety profession. This injury classification is what safety campaigns, safety records, safety performance measurement, safety comparisons, safety competitions, safety recognition schemes, etc., recognize as being the accepted measurement of safety. The HSE and the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) provide information by way of their respective websites which can include reactive data such as health, safety and fire statistics, together with a wealth of information relating to safety campaigns. 

Changes in individual and social norms are not the ultimate goal of safety campaigns. These changes are only intermediate variables that must exist to move on to the desired outcome measures a change in on-road behavior and consequently a reduction in relevant crashes and injuries.
