Prepare Your Report

Detailed information can be obtained using the View/Report menu. This gives details about individual blocks. The View/History menu gives information about the convergence and what calculations have been done. The View/Input Summary lists the parameters you have set. Every report should have a flow sheet with blocks and streams labeled, mass and energy balances referenced to the flow sheet, and a text description of the process. You should outline the problem, describe the choices you have made, and list all the ways you examined your results for validity. When you are really done, you can choose File and Export. In the Save as type window, scroll down to report Files (. rep see Fig. C.l 1). Save that. It creates a text version of the whole simulation, giving aU the detail you supplied and all the results. It is very useful to document your work (perhaps as an Appendix in a report), and the report gives the detail needed to

You must submit a report If you exceed any threshold for any listed chemical or chemical category. For example, if vour facility processes 22.000 pounds of a listed chemical and also otherwise uses 16,000 pounds of that same chemical, although you do not exceed the process threshold, you do exceed the othenwise used threshold (10,000 pounds) and you therefore must report. However, in preparing your reports, you must consider all non-exempted activities and all releases of that chemical from your facility, not just the releases from the otherwise use activity. 

So that you have full background knowledge of these procedures, I have asked Professor Dusty Fields of the Agronomy Department at Farmer University to consult. He has reviewed the Soil Conservation Administration Proficiency Testing Program procedures and has presented us with much useful information in his attached memo. If your analysis of results suggests the need for intervention, or your team has devised a proposed solution to a problem you have identified, you may wish to include a "commentary" section at the end of your report. Alternatively, you may prefer to discuss these ideas informally with your PSM sponsor before committing them to a formal presentation. Either way, it s a good idea to be prepared to respond affirmatively to management questions. 

All of us are dealing with problems which involve extremely complicated conditions, and we must be prepared to be confronted with unexpected results for some time to come. Sulfuric acid, methanol, and polystyrene are other industrially important chemicals that depend on equilibrium reactions for their production. Choose one of these chemicals, or another industrial chemical. Research methods that are used to produce it, as well as the products that are derived from it. Prepare a report that summarizes the results of your own research on the carbon cycle. 

Take 3 mL of the prepared DNA solution. Add the same amount of 1 M HC1 as above (1 or 2 drops). Mix it thoroughly by shaking the solution. Test the pH of the solution with a universal pH paper and record the pH (3) and the DNA concentration of the prepared solution on your Report Sheet (4).

Prepare a new sample tube with the following contents 1.0 mL reagent cocktail, 0.8 mL distilled water, and 0.2 mL NADP+ solution. Be careful to pipet exactly 0.2 mL NADP+. Mix it thoroughly. Readjust the spectrophotometer with the Blank to zero absorbance (100% transmission). At a set time (i.e., 2 hr. 33 min. 00 sec.), add exactly 0.2 mL of enzyme solution. Mix the sample tube and insert into the spectrophotometer. Take your first reading 1 min. after the mixing and every 30 sec. for 5 min. thereafter. Record the absorbancies on your Report Sheet in column 3. 

Do as many experiments as you wish or as time and supplies/materials permit. You can effectively cover all the procedures by teaming up with a few other classmates and exchanging data at the end of the lab period. (Be sure to give the proper credit, or blame for that matter, to your lab partners. Also, be sure you know what your lab partners have done.) However, you must prepare your own lab report. 

Q Q Prepare a detailed report to share your findings. In your report, compare the molar mass of the gas you calculated to the molar mass of oxygen. Explain the difference between these values. Identify possible sources of error in your procedure. 

Your presentation After preparing lab reports on one or more sections of this Course Challenge, you will share your results in a class presentation. Assume this presentation is being made to the Canadian Minister of Emigration, the Canadian Minister of the Economy, and a group of business people who may wish to invest in the development of the planet.

You are working as an emergency manager for your county health department. Prepare a report documenting any and all current national situations for today s date. Compile a list of all state offices and emergency management agencies for the state that you live in. How would you locate current disease prevalence information for your community ... 

You may be allowed to take your laboratory reports and other texts into the practical exam. Don t assume that this is a soft option, or that revision is unnecessary you will not have time to read large sections of your reports or to familiarize yourself with basic principles etc. The main advantage of open-book exams is that you can check specific details of methodology, reducing your reliance on memory, provided you know your way around your practical manual. In all other respects, your revision and preparation for such exams should be similar to theory exams. Make sure you are familiar with all of the practical exercises, including any work carried out in class by your partner (since exams are assessed on individual performance). Check with the teaching staff to see whether you can be given access to the laboratory, to complete any exercises that you have missed. 

Prepare a report that includes your experimental procedure, a data table that summarizes your results, and the experimental evidence.
