Emergency management

The phases of emergency preparedness often overlap. However, effective emergency management coordinates the activities in all four phases. Emergencies and disasters can cut across a broad spectrum and can include infrastructure, human services, and the economy. When considering the all hazards approach, planners must also consider any predictable consequences relating to those hazards. All stakeholders must plan to focus on the management principles of coordination and collaboration. [Pg.155]

This section should contain an appropriate description of the operating organization s response to an emergency. [Pg.61]

Measures for ensuring the protection of the plant staff and how these will be co-ordinated with other emergency response actions should also be described in this section. Where necessary, reference to other sections of the SAR where this issue is discussed should be made. [Pg.61]

Though business continuity plans are not necessarily safety focused, many times, they have huge safety implications and for that reason should be described here (though they may be published separately). Emergency management plans are more tactical than business continuity plans and usually focus on immediate safety implications to employees or the public. Actual emergency response procedures are also usually published separately and are collected in Part II Operational Safety Requirements. [Pg.108]
