Players in the Field

The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) represents a third international player in the field of LCA. In 1996, UNEP published an easy to read and user-friendly guide to LCA° and supported several international workshops since then, deahng with various topics in the context of LCA. The launch of the Life Cycle Initiative in 2002 within UNEP further emphasised its importance.°°...

An emerging group of antidepressant interventions comprises several hormones that have been shown to have mood-elevating or mood-modulating effects (see Halbreich, Chapter 17, in this volume). This group includes mostly cortisol suppressors, thyroid hormones, estrogen, and other steroids. In these plants, initially phenol and ortho-cresol are separated from the cresylic acid mixture using fractionation, and a mixture rich in cresols (upto 94%) containing some xylenols is produced and the product is marketed as mixed cresols (primarily para cresol, meta cresol, and small percentage of mixed xylenols and a very little quantity of unrecovered phenol). It has been reported that for select customers, SASOL can supply upto 99% pure cresols (metal + para cresols). 

It is interesting to note that many key global players in the field of aroma chemicals have integrated essential oil complexes encompassing both natural extracts and those derived from organic chemical synthesis. For essential oils based on natural extracts, traditional processes such as steam... 

I also had the opportunity of interacting with virtually every manufacturer of cresols, natural and synthetic, and also with players in the field of individual cresol derivatives in the world. 

SAR has a brilliant future due to its capacity to build on itself by knowledge feedback. There are many different players in the field with personalized methods and mindsets. There will be many more and the variety of approaches will increase with time, as the need to tackle problems of increasing complexity will demand. However diverse the method, the objective remains the same for all, mechanistic insight. This alone guarantees than all approaches, however different, will have a common goal directed vector. 

Where and how should you look for an academic position Just as with your research, your doctoral and postdoctoral advisors will be your closest mentors for your job search, followed by those who were on your dissertation committee. You should review your curriculum vitae, research, teaching, and professional plan with these individuals. They are also likely to be well known in academia, thus providing an indirect boost to your reputation. Additionally, they are likely to have many connections to important players in the field, and to know where the job opportunities lie. They are also likely to have a feel for which universities have programs that are recruiting and growing, improving in reputation, and generating new resources.

This brief reflection on the background of EINECS and ELINCS is made as an introduction of the actual situation with regard to safety requirements and to alert new players in the field of essential oils to make sure that before intending to place a fragrance or flavor raw material on the European market they check whether or not this product is listed in EINECS or ELINCS respectively or is marketed in compliance with the Regulations of REACH for new substances. Although they know that he is not keen of homages and that his activity in physics is not over, we think that it is fully justified to summarize here his curriculum, emphasizing some of his achievements. 

Macrocyclic compounds act as main players in the field of supramolecular chemistry because they form organized supramolecular assemblies by cavity-size dependent host-guest interactions. Therefore, development of the field of supramolecular chemistry has been pushed by the discovery of four key macrocycles, the cyclodextrins, crown ethers, calix[n]arenes and cucurbit[n]urils. In 2008, we introduced a new class of macrocycles Pillar[n]arenes . On account of their novel cross section of properties and great potential, pillar[n]arenes are becoming dominant in the field of macrocyclic chemistry and are opening up a new supramolecular chemistry, which cannot be achieved by the other four key players. The field called pillar[ ]arene chemistry was started in 2008, and there was a small handful of players in the beginning. Fortunately, many chemists have joined the field of pillar[n]arene chemistry since 2012 and, now, pillar[n]arene chemistry attracts the attention of numerous researchers.
