Modulation factor

Krisement, O., Phil. Mag. 2, 245, Some remarks about electron correlation. A comparative survey of the theories of Wigner (1934) and of Bohm and Pines by means of modulating factor. [Pg.354]

It appears from formula (6) that the prior-prejudice distribution mix) is a fundamental quantity in the calculation of the MaxEnt distribution of electrons, in that the latter is obtained by modulation of m(x). In all those regions where the modulating factor required to fit the observations is unity, the final picture is therefore always going to coincide with the prior expectation itself. For this reason, it is of the greatest importance that some of the prior information available about the system under study be conveyed into the calculation by means of a sensible choice for the prior-prejudice distribution. [Pg.19]

A second major source of computational difficulties associated with uniform prior-prejudice distributions is connected with the extremely fine sampling grids that are needed to avoid aliasing effects in the numerical Fourier synthesis of the modulating factor in (8). To predict the dependence of aliasing effects upon the prior prejudice, we need to examine more closely the way the MaxEnt distribution of scatterers is actually synthesised from the values of the Lagrange multipliers X. [Pg.23]

F.O.B. equipment cost of a carbon steel exchanger rated at 150 psi is 23,000. See Appendix B, Fig. B-3. The bare module factor is 3.39 (only one exchanger it would be 3.29 if there were two exchangers. See Table B-l). [Pg.256]

In 1964 the installed cost for each extruder and its accessory equipment was given as 90,000.25 The indirect costs increase the cost for solids-handling equipment an average of 29%. This gives a bare module cost of 1,180,000 for all 9 extruders and accessories in 1968. No bare module factors are given for extruders. However, an extruder is really a polymer pump, and for pumps and compressors the bare module factor is around 3.25 and the material factor for stainless steel is 2.0. A back calculation gives a 1968 F.O.B. cost of 540,000. [Pg.268]

The bare module factors for each individual item are given in Table 9E-1. The offsite costs are given in Table 9E-5, the site development costs in Table 9E-6, and the cost of industrial buildings in Table 9E-7. The various costs are combined in Table 9E-8 and then updated to 1974. Much of the information is from Appendix B. [Pg.269]

Piping between units is difficult to estimate. From Figure 8E-4 there are approximately 20,000 ft of piping. Assuming that the average size piping is 3 in, the installed cost is 6.00 per foot (including valves partially stainless steel), and the bare module factor is 1.40, the cost in 1968 is... [Pg.274]

For the elucidation of the specific nature of the N-particle modulating factor fjy(/), we first have to know the explicit form of the vector function f(r) = f p(r) r). This may be done by means of an iterative approximation, based on the following relation ... [Pg.217]

Brown developed guidelines for the preparation of order-of-magni-tude and study capital cost estimates based upon the Lang and Hand methods. Brown modified Lang and Hand methods for materials of construction, instrumentation, and location factors. He found that the modified Hand and Garrett module factor methods gave results within 3.5 percent. [Pg.15]

The Photochemical Activity and solar Ultraviolet Radiation (PAUR I) and Photochemical Activity and solar Ultraviolet Radiation Modulation Factors (PAUR II) projects had the aim of studying various aspects of ultraviolet radiation and photochemistry interrelationships. PAUR I aimed at studying the interrelationships between total ozone, UV-B radiation, aerosol load, air pollutants, photodissociation rates of N02 and 03 and tropospheric ozone. PAUR II has the aim of studying the interactions between UV-B, total ozone, tropospheric ozone and photochemical activity in the presence of alternating maritime and Saharan aerosols. The present paper presents the main concepts underlying the two projects, the approach followed and a brief overview of some of the results obtained so far. Further, the main results of PAUR I that are relevant to tropospheric ozone chemistry over the Eastern Mediterranean are presented. [Pg.55]
