The JME Editor is a Java program which allows one to draw, edit, and display molecules and reactions directly within a web page and may also be used as an application in a stand-alone mode. The editor was originally developed for use in an in-house web-based chemoinformatics system but because of many requests it was released to the public. The JME currently is probably the most popular molecule entry system written in Java. Internet sites that use the JME applet include several structure databases, property prediction services, various chemoinformatics tools (such as for generation of 3D structures or molecular orbital visualization), and interactive sites focused on chemistry education [209]. [Pg.144]

A large amount of information can be provided on a technical service Internet site by means of hyperlinks, ie, cHckable terms or addresses that allow the reader to access multiple layers of information by a simple cHck of a control device. Some companies have provided their entire Hbrary of open Hterature on their products ia the form of material stored within a hypedinked page. The reader can either browse this information directly on the site or download it to their own computer to be read at their convenience. [Pg.381]

Further information and advice related to the use of the clinical trial design can be found in a variety of sources including textbooks, manuscripts, organizations and Internet sites. In addition to the chapter reference list which cites helpful sources of information related to clinical trial protocol development, design and analysis, the following sources are also recommended. [Pg.249]

ICP-based analysis techniques and spectrometer technology were reviewed recently [147,189-191]. An up-to-date monograph on ICP-AES is available [192]. A useful Internet site for the ICP community is http //listserv.syr.edu/archives/plasmachem-l.html. [Pg.622]

EPA has developed standards for lead paint hazards, lead in dust, and lead in soil. To educate parents, homeowners, and tenants about lead hazards, lead poisoning prevention in the home, and the lead abatement process, EPA has published several general information pamphlets. Copies of these pamphlets can be obtained from the National Lead Information Center or from various Internet sites, including http //www.epa.gov/opptintr/lead. [Pg.31]

In multi-volume references and other specialist books listed below, the ISBN(13) has been given. The original sources can be traced through Internet sites (e.g., GOOGLE ) using, for example, where appropriate, the ISBN number or by searching the title given in italics. [Pg.118]

In order to reduce the cost of the book, and thereby improve its accessibility, there are no colour reproductions. Many of the illustrations, however, can only properly be appreciated and understood in colour (particularly those in Chapter 20). The colour illustrations can therefore be viewed and downloaded from the following internet site ... [Pg.3]

The quest for the perfect diet pill is far from over. Readers should use reputable Internet sites and other sources to keep abreast of new developments. In most cases, diet pills will only be recommended for obese individuals who fall into certain risk-based categories. All drugs have side effects the benefits must always outweigh the risks when you decide to take these pills. [Pg.106]

Recently Stroebel et al. published the first survey of Internet sites relating to various aspects of luminescence [56], In their classification they cite relevant companies and existing products, general websites, images, movies, and demonstrations for educational purposes. Below are summarized some of these useful websites to which others have been added. [Pg.60]

Scientific American published a special issue on fuel cells in July 1999. Alternatively, A. John Appleby s introductory article The electrochemical engine for vehicles is a good read the Internet sites http //www.chemcases.com/cells/index.htm, http //www.fuelcells.org and http //www.howstujfworks.com/fuel-cell.htm and fuel-cell2.htm are also worth a try. [Pg.551]

This non-destructive technique is a very suitable tool for rapid in-line analysis of inorganic additives in food products (Price and Major, 1990 Anon, 1995). It can be readily used by non-skilled operators, and dry materials can be pressed into a pellet or simply poured into a sample cup. The principles of this technique related to food analysis are described by Pomeranz and Meloan (1994). A useful Internet site is http //www.xraysite.com, which includes information about different XRF instruments from various companies. Wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence (WD-XRF) or bench-top energy dispersive (ED-XRF) instruments are available. XRF is a comparative technique, thus a calibration curve needs to be established using food products of the same type as those to be... [Pg.129]

E-book and electronic versions of this book are fully interactive with each of the Internet sites mentioned (clicking on a hyperlink automatically opens your browser to the site indicated). If you are using the hard copy version of this book, you can access a cited Web site by typing the provided Web address directly into your Internet browser. You may find it useful to refer to synonyms or related terms when accessing these Internet databases. NOTE At the time of publication, the Web addresses were functional. After one or more lead compounds have been selected for further development, more preclinical investigations are needed before it is possible to start studies in humans. The main studies during this phase are toxicity studies in animals. It is important to note that the goal of these studies is not so much to find safe compounds and rejecf unsafe ones, but rather to learn under which conditions a potentially beneficial compound can be harmful, and to find out how it can be used safely in humans, if at all. Details on the type, duration and extent of toxicity studies needed can be found in various regulatory guidelines issued by ICH, FDA and EMEA and are easily accessible via the internet sites of these bodies. Although there are still differences in the requirements... [Pg.113]

Besides luminescence properties, we also added the short data on color of corresponding minerals, because, as was already mentioned, such information is often useful for an imderstanding of liuninescence nature. The data on ionic radii of different elements and the main structural data are taken from corresponding Internet sites. [Pg.45]
