Tools provided by the employer must be assessed to ensure that they are suitable for the purpose and the environment in which they are to be used. Tools are to be in good working condition prior to issue to employees. [Pg.205]

Eye protection must be provided and used whenever work involves using cold chisels, drills, grinders or other tools where there is a risk of flying particles or pieces of the tool breaking off. Open-bladed knives, screwdrivers and other sharp tools are to be carried and used so as not to cause injury to the user or others. Non-ferrous (spark-free) tools must be used in flammable atmospheres. Insulated tools must be used where there is a possibility of live electrical work. [Pg.205]

Hand and power tool cleaning is used on ships mostly for spot repair of damaged areas. Hand tools include scrapers, wire bmshes, and sanders. Electric and pneumatic power tools, which include grinders and needle guns, clean faster and more thoroughly than hand tools. Most power tools have vacuum lines coimected to collect paint debris. [Pg.365]

These are series motors and are relatively compact and lightweight compared to an a.c. motor.
