Tool insulation

Ensure that rubber gloves, dielectric overshoes, and tools (insulated sticks and cable cutters) for handling energized equipment are used by properly trained and qualified personnel. [Pg.198]

As discussed in this book, industrial costs could be greatly reduced by introducing more effective tools. Insulation, recycling, coating technology, quality control allowed improving the industrial process. [Pg.277]

Electron Beam Techniques. One of the most powerful tools in VLSI technology is the scanning electron microscope (sem) (see Microscopy). A sem is typically used in three modes secondary electron detection, back-scattered electron detection, and x-ray fluorescence (xrf). AH three techniques can be used for nondestmctive analysis of a VLSI wafer, where the sample does not have to be destroyed for sample preparation or by analysis, if the sem is equipped to accept large wafer-sized samples and the electron beam is used at low (ca 1 keV) energy to preserve the functional integrity of the circuitry. Samples that do not diffuse the charge produced by the electron beam, such as insulators, require special sample preparation. [Pg.356]

Although a great number of compound semiconductor devices make use of epitaxy to form the cote vertical stmcture of the device, ion implantation (qv) is a powerful tool in creating both horizontal and vertical modifications to a device. Ion implantation can be used to dope a semiconductor either fi- or / -type by using appropriate species. Implantation can also be used to render a region semi-insulating or to initiate multilayer intermixing. [Pg.381]

In a sense, a superconductor is an insulator that has been doped (contains random defects in the metal oxide lattice). Some of the defects observed via neutron diffraction experiments include metal site substitutions or vacancies, and oxygen vacancies or interstituals (atomic locations between normal atom positions). Neutron diffraction experiments have been an indispensable tool for probing the presence of vacancies, substitutions, or interstituals because of the approximately equal scattering power of all atoms. [Pg.656]

Although at the time of his early inventions Dr. Schoop envisaged that an electric arc could be used to produce the molten metal for spraying, forty years passed before the method became commercially important. Then, in Germany, Russia and Japan tools were made based on the arc. Although in Japan alternating current is used, the noise is nearly intolerable and elsewhere direct current from motor generators is employed. The fundamental idea is simple two wires, carefully insulated from each other, are advanced to meet at a point where an arc is formed, immediately in advance of a Jet... [Pg.419]

SCRIMP process This Seeman Composites Resin Infusion Process (SCRIMP) is described as a gas-assist resin transfer molding process. As an example glass fiber fabrics/ thermoset vinyl ester polyester plastic and polyurethane foam panels (for insulation) are placed in a segmented tool. A vacuum is pulled with a bag so that a huge amount of plastic can be drawn into the mold (Marco process approach). Its curved roof is made separately and bonded to the box with mechanical and adhesive fastening. It is similar to various reinforced plastics molding processes. [Pg.522]
