Database system control

Anderson S, Abdellatif M, Schreiner S, McDonell M, Reda D, Fihn S. Information system for a multi-hospital trial using optical scanning and hospital database downloads. Controlled Clin Trials 1995 16 3S 76S. [Pg.629]

The private database system in MAECIS, on the other hand, is much simpler. It stores only a number and name assigned by the user along with the associated chemical structure. There is no attempt to register the compounds. The owner of a private file has full read and write control over his data. [Pg.12]

The National Chemical Laboratory for Industry (NCLI), Japan, has developed an integrated Spectral Database System (SDBS) which is available to users in Japan. All spectra were determined at NCLI under controlled conditions and are available on a PC/CD-ROM or magnetic tape. The system has both H-nmr (6000 compounds) and 13C-nmr spectra (5700 compounds), along with searching software. NCLI has also developed an integrated 13C—1H-nmr system that can be used for two-dimensional data elucidation (70,71). [Pg.121]

The above entity dictionary module provides fast, in-memory access of most frequently accessed data for the compound registration process while keeping the in-memory cache up-to-date. In a multitiered system, controlling network traffic is critical to its speed and user experience. The above design eliminates the need of querying the database every time a piece of data is asked for, and since the system can use the cached dictionaries to display only the valid entities to the user, it also reduces human errors. [Pg.167]

Upgrades due to developments, inclnding the installation of bug Axes (patches), must be tightly controlled by the personnel responsible for LIMS. Following the production of the Validation Report, LIMS is deemed to be in a validated state (snbject to any issues raised in that report). Changes at the operating system, database system, and application levels must be assessed for impacts on the validated status of LIMS. [Pg.536]

Step 1 Evaluate the impact of the control scheme and its subsystem on the product quality. This involves the creation of a system inventory or register. The register may be in the form of a validated, controlled, and approved spreadsheet or database. Systems that are deemed to have No Impact on product quality would normally be dealt with by applying Good Engineering Practices. [Pg.626]

This SOP should detail any physical measures which may enhance system security such as building access controls and also any measures, be they procedural or technical, required to enhance security at remote input terminals. With 21st century database systems, the provision of logical access controls to meet the requirements of, among others, 21 CFR Part 11" should not be an issue. Consideration should be given to the use of user profiles or other such additional measures to enhance security on sensitive files such as donor confidential/personal information. [Pg.931]

The General Database operation controls storage, retrieval, searching, and deletion of data in general databases that interface to MACCS-II. ORACLE or System 1032 DBMS interfaces are available from MDL. Other DBMS s that have interface architecture similar to ORACLE S may be user-programmed for use with this facility. [Pg.102]

Security. Most large database systems contain data that should not be visible to or updateable by at least some of the users of the database. As a result, comprehensive mechanisms are required to guarantee that no users see information that they are not entitled to see, and more important still, that the users who are able to modify the contents of the database are carefully controlled—staff should not be able to modify their own salaries, etc. As a result, database systems provide mechanisms that allow the administrator of a database to control who can do what with the database. [Pg.109]

System software is intended to control the hardware resources of a computer system to provide useful functionality for the user. For example, an operating system tries to optimize the use of resources such as processor, memory, and input-output devices to enable users to run various programs efficiently. A database system tries to maximize the use of memory and disk resources to allow different users to access data concurrently. [Pg.296]

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Informatics Division, Philadelphia, PA (www.bio-rad.com), publishes the Sadtler IR and Raman spectra collections of over 240,000 spectra. They are available in electronic format and in a variety of specialized subsets, including ATR-IR, with collections of controlled and prescription drugs, nutraceuticals, forensics, polymers, and more. Sigma-Aldrich Chemical Company (www.sigma-aldrich.com) publishes over 18,000 FTIR spectra. National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan, publishes a free spectral database system of organic compounds. The spectra include IR, Raman, NMR, and MS for most compounds. The database may be found at www.aist.go.jp/RIODB/SDBS. [Pg.356]

CDC has several data collection and analysis resources. An agency within CDC is the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC). Its mission is to prevent violence and injury and reduce their impacts. The agency operates an online database of injury data and statistics called Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System (WISQARS). This is an interactive database system that provides customized reports of injury-related data. [Pg.6]

All process deviations whether planned or unplanned, together with errors and out of specification results should be recorded with a controlled form or electronically onto a database system. Whether a paper system or an electronic system this needs to facilitate the management of the investigation stage, including root cause analysis where necessary, corrective and preventative actions and close out, as well as the data being available for trending (CAPA-system). This is an important part of any Pharmaceutical Quality System, see Sect. 35.6.15. [Pg.750]

Almost all major and reputable l C manufacturers can provide dedicated optimum solutions for these control and safety systems. Control and safety solutions need to provide improved monitoring and management of hydrocarbon transportation through pipelines, tankers, and terminals, ensuring reliable operations, functional safety, system availability, and compliance with environmental requirements. Relational database management for data integrity should be reliable, real time and object... [Pg.906]

Test results and the corresponding raw data must be maintained in an organized and legally defensible form. The use of notebooks (paper or electronic) or other dociunent controlled form is required. Most modem analytical laboratories have some form of laboratory information management system (LIMS) or database system to systematically collect and store the results of the stability... [Pg.472]

An engineering database system should provide a facility for managing integrity constraints on the database and should automatically maintain a consistent database state. The control of consistency of the data should be included in the applications or in the executive of the system. The executive is a command processor that assembles information, launches application programs, accumulates performance predictions, and provides control over the process by the user [3-5]. [Pg.54]
