Accessing data

Thus the hash code is not used as a direct way to access data rather it serves as an index or key to the filed data entry (Figure 2-66). Since hash coding receives unique codes by reducing multidimensional data to only one dimension, information gets lo.st. Thi.s los.s prevents a recon.struction of the complete data from the hash code. [Pg.74]

A copy (5V4 inch floppy disk) of a menu-driven computer program to calculate Gibbs free energy of formation and change in Gibbs free energy for reactions (including random access data file of compound coefficients) is available for a nominal fee. For details, contact C. L. Yaws, Dept, of Chem. Eng. Lamar University, P.O. Box 10053, Beaumont, Texas 77710, USA. [Pg.385]

Eq. (23) is particularly useful because it relates a derivative of experimentally accessible data directly to the stress exerted locally on the macro-scopically curved substrates at the point (0,0,52 =/z) (see Fig- 2, Secs. IV A 2, IV A 3). [Pg.11]

File manager systems—Maintain files and handle data input to and output from the files. Database management systems (DBMS) contain integrated sets of files related by their use and provide uniform software interfaces for accessing data. The essential relationships between records in the files may be of several types, including sequential, associative, or hierarchical. [Pg.131]

The flexibility of data resource files also facilitate dynamic storage so that the user can generate variable names and values during program operation. This is done in the Identify section in which the user can save and later access data under improvised names. [Pg.15]

Some commonly used SAS tools for importing Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access data into SAS include the LIBNAME statement, the Import Wizard/PROC IMPORT, the SQL Pass-Through Facility, and SAS Enterprise Guide. [Pg.57]

The successful use of VIRS methods as research tools requires more than anything a published framework that will provide standards for the collection and interpretation of data, and accessible data libraries that can give examples for comparison and contrast. The spectral libraries used for mineral identification are in part public-domain, but much information remains tied to the instrument software and cannot readily be distributed. Differences in the formats used for spectral files in different libraries complicate their use in standard software and impedes information exchange. [Pg.292]

In 2002, the European Exposure Factors (ExpoFacts) database started as a 2-year project funded by CEFIC-LRI (European Chemical Industry Council, Long Range Research Initiative) to create a European database of factors affecting exposure to environmental contaminants. The aim was to create a public access data source, similar to the US-EPA Exposure Factors Handbook (US-EPA 1997), which has been widely used by European researchers, but with European data. Since 2006, the project is hosted by the European Commission s Joint Research Centre (JRC 2007). [Pg.325]

Unless otherwise noted, following our practice in other chapters in this series, enthalpies of formation and of vaporization were taken from the evaluated archival source by Pedley, Naylor and Kirby. Where primary sources were difficult to access, data were obtained from the electronic database at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the original source is cited. Except for the more recently determined values, the peroxide enthalpies of formation that appear in Tables 1-4 here also appeared in our earlier... [Pg.146]

Finally, the Add Ins. .. of the Data Analysis Tools gives the three methods (paired, means with equal variance, and means with unequal variance) as menu-driven options (see spreadsheet 2,4), Access Data Analysis. . . from the Tools menu (if it is not there, the Analysis ToolPak needs to be installed via the Add-Ins. . . menu, also found in the Tools menu). [Pg.50]

The above entity dictionary module provides fast, in-memory access of most frequently accessed data for the compound registration process while keeping the in-memory cache up-to-date. In a multitiered system, controlling network traffic is critical to its speed and user experience. The above design eliminates the need of querying the database every time a piece of data is asked for, and since the system can use the cached dictionaries to display only the valid entities to the user, it also reduces human errors. [Pg.167]

Don t worry on that score. The Chervya is still burrowing through their systems and you re patched into it. As far as anyone in Kronometr is concerned, you re accessing data from a terminal inside the building. ... [Pg.123]

Examples of quality assurance protocols that are considered standard practice in any data collection scheme include the use of both internal control samples (e.g. use of field blanks and spikes6) and external quality assurance samples (e.g. duplicate samples of known concentrations sent to different laboratories) to determine the extent of intra- and interlaboratory variation. Ensuring that the data have not been compromised or corrupted may also require setting up accessible data archives of original paper or electronic records so that the accuracy of summaries of the data published in documents and articles can be verified. [Pg.152]

This is a Basic (Microsoft Quickbasic 4.5) program which eliminates the influence of noise spikes on the calculation of a mean value from a collection of 200 thermocouple readings. For simplicity, the 200 values are read in from a data file. In the more common case, they would be read in from the data bus or an axillary port. Programming instructions for accessing data from various A/D converters are generally provided from the manufacturer. [Pg.108]

The availability of fast, cheap and accessible data processing is encouraging analysts to employ standard statistical evaluation of results, which previously have been very time-consuming to undertake, and to explore new ways of extracting the maximum amount of chemical information from the analytical data. This last is a... [Pg.12]

Rework Eqs. (5.3.4) and (5.3.5) so that they may become more directly linked to experimentally accessible data It is desired to reexpress Q and Qe in terms of observations in which T rather than stays fixed. [Pg.483]

All of the expressions described above are exact and can be applied to small non-polar molecules, small polar molecules, non-polar polymers, cross-linked polymers, polyelectrolytes, etc. The difficulty is finding correct and accurate equations of state and activity coefficient models. Many accurate activity coefficient models have been developed to correlate existing activity coefficient data of small molecules or to predict activity coefficients given only the structure of the molecules of interest or other easily accessible data (Danner and Daubert, 1989). [Pg.6]
