In April 2001, tasks related to the promotion of information exchange and international collaborations were assigned by the Petroleum Energy Center (PEC) to the JCCP. During the last few years, JCCP has continued to promote cooperation and collaboration among the research community interested in oil-related activities including the private companies. Now, JCCP functions under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

Except in the United States of America and New Zealand, where direct to consumer (DTC) advertising of prescription medicines is allowed, companies are not allowed to communicate directly with patients. The Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPl) Code of Practice has been relaxed a little in this area in recent years and companies can now communicate in a very limited fashion with the general public. Clause 20.2 of the Code allows the provision of non-promotional information either in response to a direct enquiry from an individual or via press conferences, press announcements, lectures and media reports, public relations activities and the like.

Because implementation of the whole project will take several years, all the related activities should be included into a list of top-priority works since the hazard of further afloat storage of the damaged NSs increases every year. It is also obvious that under the present-day level of the project financing from the Russian Budget funds, its implementation would last for many years. Thus the project support by the whole international community and by individual countries, especially in the Pacific region, would considerably contribute to acceleration of the resolution of this topical problem. 

In Central America and the Caribbean, a regional and sub-regional focus is showing results, to the point that only one State not Party remains in Central America (Honduras) and a handful of island states in the Caribbean (Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominican Repubhc and Haiti). Recent universality-related activities in the region have been held with the involvement of representatives from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Netherlands Antilles and the Secretariat of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), as well as the UN Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development, based in Lima, Peru. 

The harmonized elements of the GHS may be seen as a collection of building blocks from which to form a regulatory approach for chemical hazard communication within the workplace, for the transportation system, for those involved in chemical work-related activities, and for consumers.

All activities were coordinated with state and local authorities as well as other federal agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Community relations played an important role in all activities conducted during the identification, screening, and cleanup of dioxin-contaminated sites.

Persisting organizations, temporary communes, or sporadic individuals may initiate and conduct bioterrorism acts, without there being any institutionalized assistance from any country. The following section deals with those three types of elements, practically or potentially involved in bioterrorism-related activities. Also, it presents in detail prominent episodes of in-effect bioterrorism (further episodes are included in Section 13.4.14,13.4.17 and 13.4.18). 

Consider how the different parts of our technical community relate to national objectives. Each of the principal sectors --university, industry, and government--are engaged continuously in activities that fulfill a series of national objectives. Industrial research functions primarily as a mechanism for economic growth. Universities, of course, fill a reservoir of basic research and provide training. Each government agency that has technical component supports R D related to its particular mis-sion--national security, health, transportation, and so on. 

From its organizational values to its business practice statement, RTIO appears to adopt a view of social inclusion as incorporating community consultation in corporate activity from preentry to exit, good corporate-community relations, community self-determination, and promotion of community and regional sustainability. In line with this perspective, the first step undertaken in the project was problem identification in consultation with local communities. This phase of the project is summarized next. 

The workshop surfaced a number of issues that needed to be addressed at the policies and procedures level for RTIO to enable the Aboriginal contractors to become more actively engaged in the wider Pilbara economy. Facilitating the development of an intervention to address these issues was RTIO s explicit recognition of the need for a holistic and systematic approach to community relations and capacity development. The modern industrial worksite can be a noisy place. This poses two safety and health related problems. First, there is the problem of distraction. Any operation that requires oral communication will suffer from a noisy environment. Interference with communications can create misunderstandings about information transmitted from one person to another. When such communications relate to hazardous activities, any misunderstandings can lead to accidents. Second, there is the problem of hearing loss. Exposure to noise that exceeds prescribed levels can result in permanent hearing loss. Occupational exposure to loud sounds is the most common cause of what is often called noise-induced hearing loss. 

Despite the cost implications, software maintenance is generally perceived as having a low profile within the software community. Management teams have often in the past placed little emphasis on maintenance-related activities. Small advances have been made in combating these problems, and high-profile maintenance projects such as the year 2000 problem have been successful at highlighting the issues.
