PETROLEUM NAPHTHA aliphatic

ALIPHATIC PETROLEUM NAPHTHA (8002-05-9) Flash point -40°C to -86°F/ —40°F to 66°C. Incompatible with nitric acid oxidizers may cause fire and explosions. [Pg.65]

Silicon tetraisocyanate is a stable white crystalline solid which melts at 26.0 0.5° and boils at 185.6 0.3°. It is soluble in benzene, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, acetone, and petroleum naphtha. On exposure to moist air or water, it is rapidly hydrolyzed to gelatinous silica and cyanic acid. It reacts vigorously with most primary and secondary aliphatic and aromatic amines to produce, respectively, W-mono- or W,W-disubstituted ureas - and thus is useful in the synthesis of these classes of compounds. [Pg.26]

Thus, the eventual primary products of the carbonization process (Chapter 16) are coke, coal tar, and crnde benzole (which should not be mistaken for benzene although benzene can be isolated from benzole), ammonia liquor, and gas. The benzole fraction contains a variety of compounds, both aromatic and aliphatic in nature, and can be conveniently regarded as an analog of petroleum naphtha (Speight, 2007). [Pg.719]

Naphthas naf-thos [L, fr. Gk, of Iranian origin, akin to Persian ne/t naphtha] (1572) n. Aromatic hydrocarbons derived from coal tar, although the term petroleum naphtha is sometimes used for petroleum spirits of substantially aliphatic type. The coal tar naphthas are the distillation fractions, which contain a complex mixture of aromatic hydrocarbons, including xylenes. Generally refers to hydrocarbon solvents, both aromatic and aliphatic. Hi-flash naphtha is an example of the former and VM P naphtha an example of the latter. [Pg.642]

Naphtha is a mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbons isolated from petroleum by distillation. When it is passed over a catalyst under the right conditions, carbon rings are formed, followed by the sphtting of hydrogen from the carbon rings to produce benzene, toluene, and other aromatic compounds. [Pg.139]
