Stock certificates

Although we like to think we can perform almost any treatment that involves paper, there are some jobs we can t or won t do. For example, we were once approached by a man who had a large number of cancelled stock certificates. He had the idea that if he could find a paper conservator to fill in the holes, he could turn them in for cash. Although it is unusual for us to turn down work, this was one job we passed by. 

Such types of effect pigments can be used for several applications and are on the market as so-called optically variable pigments (OVP). They have found broad application, especially in preventing counterfeiting of important documents such as banknotes, stock certificates, visas, passports, or car licenses. In other words, even if owners had a legitimate claim to a factory or stock certificate or fur coat taken by the APC, they could only get money back. This last provision suited the APC goal to Americanize German-owned industry.

Stocks are certificates that represent an individual s investment in a company. They indicate that he is an owner of the corporation. People buy stocks to make money either from the dividends that are paid or because of an expected increase in the selling price of the stock. This price can be found in most large metropolitan papers. 

Infections can also be passed on by vegetative propagation from infected plants. Certification programs exist in many countries to ensure that only virus-free plant stock is sold, most particularly of very susceptible fruits such as raspberries. 

The maximum total and outdoor stocking densities must be limited by national and regional certification bodies. This is supported by the limitation of fodder imported from outside the farm, which must also be specified by national and regional certification bodies. 

Invested Assets. These are certificates of deposit of more than one year, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, business interests, partnership interests, mortgages, real estate, annuities, and retirement plans.

Property Titling. Property (such as stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, or real estate) held in joint tenancy with rights of survivorship automatically passes to the joint owner upon your death. This property is not subject to probate. If the property was acquired before 1977, the property s full value is included in your estate for tax purposes. For property acquired after that date, only your share of the property is included in your estate. Property held as tenancy in common does not follow these rules. In this case, you can leave your share to whomever you wish and it is subject to probate. 

Investments For some people, this can be most important. List all stocks, bonds, certificates of deposit, IRA or Keogh accounts, and other investments. Include issuer name and cost to you. Also indicate where items are located. Identify your stockbroker and other agents. If you have any gold coins or silver bars that constitute an investment, provide location and details. 

The Food Alliance has both fixed standards, which specifically prohibit the use of feed additives or subtherapeutic antibiotics, growth hormones, and genetically modified stock, and scored standards, which focus on more particular practices such as feed production, pasture management, manure management, and animal pest management. The Animal Welfare Institute (AWI) has also setup operational standards called the Humane Husbandry Criteria that farmers who produce meat for companies such as Niman Ranch voluntarily implement in order to receive the AWI certification. 

Clonal Selection. A good example of improvement in vine quality and productivity is the clonal improvement work done with Chardonnay. Fifteen to twenty years ago, growers were reluctant to plant Chardonnay, not only because of lack of winery interest but because of problems with shot berries, poor set, low crop, and disease susceptibility. Professor Olmo of the University of California at Davis began selections of Chardonnay, grown first in the Carneros area in Napa County and then in Oakville. The best of these selections went into the University certification program for virus-free stock. The clones were selected for better set, fuller clusters, and higher yield.

Copies of important documents birth certificate, marriage certificate, driver s license, social security cards, passport, wills, deeds, inventory of household goods, insurance papers, immunizations records, blank and credit card account numbers, stocks and bonds. Be sure to store these in a watertight container.

MTR is a certified statement issued by the primary manufacturer of a metal product (the mill) indicating the chemical analysis and mechanical properties of the stock, such as plate, sheet, strip or bar. MTR s are sometimes known as Certificates of Analysis (COA). MTR s are not formally required for all types of ASME code approved materials that... 

At a minimum, documentation of the characterization and stability of a standard, such as a certificate of analysis (Co A) and/or a certificate of stability (CoS), is typically available from the suppliers. The certificate should be obtained and recorded. The quantity of reference standard is typically limited in commercial kits designed for research use, and it is not uncommon that the reference material values may differ substantially between lots and manufacturers [16]. Novel biomarkers rarely have established gold standards against which their potency and abundance can be calibrated. A comparison of available sources can be useful, and when validating an assay for advanced applications it is desirable to plan ahead to obtain and reserve a sufficient supply of the same reference material. The example in Fig. 6.5 compares three reference standard curves, each prepared from a concentrated stock solution from a commercial supplier, an in-house reference standard, and a commercial kit, respectively. The instrument responses (optical density, OD) were highest with the standard from the commercial stock, the lowest with the kit, while the in-house reference standard response was intermediate. In this case, either the same commercial stock or the in-house reference standard can be used throughout the clinical study. 

The company store. Additional benefits with readily calculated dollar values come from the stores operated by large pharmaceutical companies. The companies make their own products available at substantial discounts to employees. Not only prescription drugs but over-the-coimter remedies, cosmetics, medical devices, and eye-care products are stocked. Other establishments that serve employees occupy company premises and include hair salons and credit unions. With nearly all the services of commercial banks, credit unions offer competitive interest rates for automobile loans, mortgages, checking and saving accounts, and certificates of deposit. 

Certification of seeds and other propagating materials as being disease-free or disease-tested is another short term application of immunoassays. Commercial products or services employing antibody-based tests are available for detecting viruses in seed potatoes and lettuce seed. These assays are performed primarily in central laboratories, but simplification of assay formats and procedures will permit seed crops to be monitored more closely throughout the production cycle to assure that elite stock remains pathogen or pest-free.
