Shaving paste

Bay Oil. Steam distillation of the leaves of the tree Pimenta racemosa (Mill) which is indigenous to certain islands of the West Indies, particularly Dominica and Puerto Rico, is called bay or bay leaf oil. The same source was used in the past to produce Bay Rum in which mm was distilled over the leaves. Bay oil [8006-78-8] is a yellowish to dark brown mobile Hquid with a fresh-spicy, sometimes medicinal odor with a lasting sweet-balsamic undertone. The oil finds extensive use in hair tonics, after-shave lotions as well as other men s-type fragrances. There is Htde or no use by the flavor industry. The range of components for a number of bay leaf oils is shown in Table 25 (66). 

EB, a 48-year-old woman, presents to a new primary care clinic. EB s chief complaints are chronic pain of the knee and "pins and needles" and "numbness" in both hands. Over the past few years, she feels that her body has been changing. EB reports increased urinary frequency, excessive sweating, worsening headaches, an increase of two shoe sizes, and facial hair that she shaves once a week. She says that her hands have enlarged to the point that "my wedding band won t fit anymore."... 

Hexachloroethane had no effects on intact or abraded skin of rabbits when 500 mg was applied to shaved skin as the pure solid (Weeks et al. 1979). There was only a slight redness at the application site when it was applied as a water paste. All redness disappeared after 72 hours. The NOAEL for dermal effects in rabbits (132 mg/kg) is reported in Table 2-3. 

There was no evidence that crystalline hexachloroethane affected the skin of animals with either inhalation or oral exposures of acute, intermediate, or chronic durations (Fowler 1969b Gorzinski et al. 1985 NTP 1977, 1989 Weeks et al. 1979). When a water paste was placed on the shaved skin of rabbits for 24 hours, there was only a slight redness as the result of contact (Weeks et al. 1979). 

The mixed wood and bark residues burned directly are collectively termed hog fuel. Over the past decade, there has been a trend to channel more and more of the cleaner, drier, and larger-sized mill residues into raw materials for products. The coarse wood residues (slabs, trim, edgings, etc.) are chipped and sent to pulp mills. Also, considerable sawdust now is being pulped instead of being burned for fuel. Some of the residues, including shavings, also are used for particleboard. This means that hog fuel contains the less desirable, dirtier, and wetter forms of waste. 

Acute dermal toxicity tests are an important method employed in assessing the safety of insecticides to workers. For dermal toxicity tests, typically, an albino rabbit weighing 2-3 kg is shaved around the abdomen and back, and the chemical in question is painted (dry power is moistened with isotonic saline to prepare a paste) over the area, which is then covered with either a rubber sleeve or cotton gauze held in place with a wire screen for up to 24 hr. The mortality is recorded and the median lethal dose obtained is referred to as dermal LD3().

The range of personal care products is rather wide, such as shampoos, foam baths, shaving products, creams, tooth pastes. An almost complete review of the use of surfactants for cosmetic and personal care purposes was given in [80], We see it necessary to focus on two aspects of the effect of surfactants on the stability of dispersed systems under different application conditions. 

For shampoos, shaving foams and tooth pastes, high stability and definite foam structure is one of the main factors determining the commercial value of the product. In this connection, conventional shampoos include anionics (ammonium or triethanolamine salts of alkylsulphates mixed with alkylolamides of natural fatty acids, e.g. coconut oil acids, as well as amphoteric surfactants and hydrolysed proteins. Detailed patent data on the formulations are given in [80, 110] and other reviews. 

Bond looks good. He has a monopoly on suave good looks. His hair is smooth and on the top of his head, where it belongs. He is no hairy wildman of the mythopoetic past. The placement of masculine hair is clearly an issue from Thmderball on, Coimery s back has been shaved hairless (prior to that film Bond has hair on his back). 

Besson and Semy a Process.—This consists in forming a soap paste of any ordinary ingredients and perfuming as desired. The soap is afterwarlds pulverised, as in making shaving powder, and the powder thus obtained is... 

Aromatic Antiseptic Tooth Soap,—Castile soap 1 lb. finely-powdered pumice, 1 oz, thymol, 20 grains oil of winter green, 30 drops. Shave the soap into ribbons, beat it into a paste with a little water, and add first the pumice and next the thymol and wintergreen dissolved in a small quantity of alcohol. 

Pharmaceutical and cosmetics Suspensions, jellies, ointments, emulsions and encapsulation, tablet disintegrating agent, tablet binder, tooth paste, shaving cream, hand cream and lotions, liquid shampoos, dental impression materials, moulding compounds, active compound in antibody formation, etc. 

PEGs prevent hand-cleansing pastes from drying out and leave a pleasant feel on the skin once they have dried. Very soft smooth shaving creams can also be produced with PEGs.
