The Standard-Setting Process. Settiag USP-NF standards is a continuing, and by no means unilateral, process. The Committee of Revision not only develops monographs for new substances but also continually reviews the monographs, specifications, and testing methods for existing substances. Results are pubHshed in one or more supplements each year. A complete review is done every five years and a revision is pubHshed.

Histamine H2 Receptor Antagonists. In 1972 a new class of histamine antagonists was described that was capable of antagonizing histamine-induced gastric acid secretion (6). Melt crystallization is carried out either with a suspension of crystals or an advanciag front (layer) of soHds, although a more complete categorization of melt crystallization is available (71). Ethylene oxide is sold as a high purity chemical, with typical specifications shown ia Table 14. This purity is so high that only impurities are specified. There is normally no assay specification. Proper sampling techniques are critical to avoid personal exposure and prevent contamination of the sample with trace levels of water. This handbook deals mainly with the practice of cathodic protection, but the discussion includes fundamentals and related fields as far as these are necessary for a complete review of the subject. We thought it appropriate to include a historical introduction in order to explain the technological development of corrosion protection. The second chapter explains the theoretical basis of metal corrosion and corrosion protection. We have deliberately given practical examples of combinations of various materials and media in order to exemplify the numerous fields of application of electrochemical protection.

It is the intention of the present author to discuss the aforementioned developments and not to give a complete review of all work concerning thiophenes which has appeared during the last 7-8 years. Because of the subjectivity inherent in choosing material for such a survey, it is possible that important contributions will unintentionally be overlooked for which the author would like to apologize.

This is not a complete review of the literature of naturally occurring substances that are being or may be used in pest control. Excellent reviews cover well the older literature of natural insect at-tractants (9, 32, 37, 40, 41, 43, 44, 71) and repellents (7, 17, 22, 25, 54, 63, 64). Only the more important recent developments in this field are discussed here. I hope that this report will stimulate the increased interest and investigation on the part of both chemists and entomologists, working together, that is needed to make the concept a reality. 

More detailed information on the chemistry of pyrethrins is given by Zechmeister (35). The chapter on the Chemistry of the Natural Pyrethrins by Crombie and Elliott is an excellent and complete review of this field. 

Numerous studies of the formation and flow of gas bubbles in liquids have appeared in the literature, and a complete review will not be attempted. Attention is drawn to two recently published reviews, that of Jackson (Jl) on the formation and coalescence of drops and bubbles in liquids, and that of Govier (G6) on developments in the understanding of the vertical flow of two phases. 

No more recent complete review seems to be available. 

Exposure Freauencv/Duration The duration of the study and the weekly and daily exposure regimen are provided in this column. This permits comparison of NOAELs and LOAELs from different studies. In this case (key number 18), rats were exposed to 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane via inhalation for 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, for 3 weeks. For a more complete review of the dosing regimen refer to the appropriate sections of the text or the original reference paper, i.e., Nitschke et al. 1981. 

Barring the inaccessibility of truly classified information. Current Topics in Elastomers Research is a complete review of the current state-of-the-science of elastomers research and applications, compiling once-guarded knowledge and outlining the future directions of the field. 

The principle underlying the BAT is that the attachment of the antigen to the IgE present on the surface of the basophil leads to the activation of the basophil and the release of its mediators (histamine, leukotrienes, prostaglandins, etc.) and the expression on its membrane of molecules such as CD63, CD203c or others which are markers of basophil activation. The basophils are identified with monoclonal antibodies marked with fluorochromes and anti-IgE and anti-CD63 receptors [for a complete review, we suggest readers read references 19-22].

Initiated by the pioneering work of Burawoy [51 ], a number of experimental and theoretical studies were performed on the carbonyl group [52-55]. A complete review is beyond the scope of this paper. We will mention only some of them that we consider of particular importance for a comprehensive coverage of the electronic spectrum of formaldehyde for both the theoretical and experimental points of view.

Many diflerent types of lamp have been designed, and while a complete review is outside the scope of this book a few of the more simple ones may be described. 

LCEC has become a widely used analytical technique for biomedical analysis. Several reports appear each month deairibing new LCEC analyses or reporting results obtain-with LCEC. While space does not permit a complete review of all bitwhemical applications, this section will consider applications of LCEC to general classes of compounds to provide an overview of the uses of this technique.
