Operator qualifications and certification

Operators See Cranes/Derricks Operator qualification and certification — 1926.1427... [Pg.47]

Who Employers must train each operator of a derrick on the safe operation of the equipment including the operational functions of equipment and its use with attachments, unavailable operation procedures, unattended equipment, dangers of distractions, tag-out, verifying controls, storm warning. Section 1926.1427, Operator Qualification and Certification, does not apply. [Pg.47]

Some cranes are neither maintained properly nor inspected regularly to ensure safe operation. Crane operators often do not have the necessary qualifications to operate each piece of equipment safely, and the operators qualifications required in the existing regulations may not provide adequate guidance to employers. The issues of crane inspection/certification and crane operator qualifications and certification... [Pg.417]

Beside technical aspects mentioned above, there are additional considerations for selecting NDT methods for a specific purpose. Cost, frequently, is decisive and major cost factors are (1) test duration, including time used for setup and post-test analysis and assessment (2) type of equipment, its sophistication, calibration, and maintenance (compatibility with previous records from periodic inspection may require costly maintenance of aging equipment) (3) equipment operator, specifically operator training and certification (191) (4) accreditation of test agency (5) qualification or validation of the NDT method (192) and (6) accuracy and precision estimates required by test standards or quahty management systems. [Pg.5084]

Validations fall into two types prospective and retrospective. In prospective validation (see flow chart in Figure 2) the validation is done in a sequential manner, involving installation qualification and operational qualification (IQ/OQ) of equipment (e.g., chromatography instrumentation or column hardware). Appropriate calibrations accompany the IQ/OQ. Process qualification, or PQ, involves formal review and approval of a PQ protocol, execution of this protocol, and issuance of a formal PQ report which includes data analysis and recommendations (i.e., approval/certification of the process). If the process is not approved, the report may recommend a redesign or redoing of the validation protocol and, in some cases, a return of the process to process development for further optimization. [Pg.118]

The certification activities include a series of process documentation and qualification studies that start with the initial installation of a sterilization system and continue as process engineering changes or new or revised product introductions are required. Qualification activities comprise installation, operational, change, and performance phases. [Pg.270]

The tests will be broken into Hardware Acceptance Tests (or Installation Qualification), System Acceptance Tests (or Operational Qualihcation), and Equipment Tests (or Performance Qualihca-tion). According to the size of the unit, all tests may be in one test document or there may be three separate Qualification documents. A test document will define the test philosophy and how the tests should be run. Each test will have a tide, a reason for the test, an oudine of any test equipment required, a description of the test, data to be recorded, and the test acceptance criteria. Calibrated test equipment must be supported with cahbration certificates. [Pg.917]

It is worth stressing that future changes to the process (e.g. a new component supplier or component design) could degrade the operational performance and take it out of certification . Any change must therefore lead to a review, an outcome of which could be re-validation/re-qualification. [Pg.101]

OSHA s 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC, Cranes and Derricks in Construction Standard requires operators of most types of cranes to be qualified or certified under one of the options in 1926.1427. Employers have a seven-year phase-in period to ensure that their operators are qualified or certified (the deadline for operator qualification/certification is November 10, 2017), unless they are operating in a state or city that has operator requirements that are in effect earlier than that. (Note On September 26, 2014, OSHA finalized a rule to extend the deadline for crane operator qualification/certification to November 10, 2017.)... [Pg.167]

Inspections each shift The shift inspection is the first of three required regularly scheduled equipment inspections. The employer will often use the equipment operator as the competent person who conducts the shift inspection. The operator, in most cases, by virtue of his or her qualification or certification, experience, and famiharity with the equipment, is a competent person. However, the employer has the fiexibility to use someone else to conduct the shift inspection as long as that person is a competent person. [Pg.171]

ASIS International also operates a professional certification board. Those who meet qualifications and demonstrate knowledge in their specialty field can achieve one of the security related certifications. [Pg.421]

Never start activities in a brand new fume cupboard with certificate of the manufacmrer only, because on site initial qualification and validation of the performance and proper training of the operators is essential. [Pg.614]
