As referred to above, most of the modules involve the intervention of a third party, the so-called notified bodies. These bodies are designated by Member States as being competent to carry out the certification tasks for which they are notified. As a precondition for their notification they must fulfil the minimum criteria which are set out in the relevant directives. These conditions vary from independence, impartiality and professional integrity, to technical competence, possession of or access to necessary facilities and to liability insurance. Once notified, the Commission publishes a list of all notified bodies in the Official Journal, It is worth noting that there is free competition between notified bodies and that manufacturers can make their own choice from all notified bodies notified within the European Union. [Pg.939]

Any designated, trained (8-hour HAZWOPER supervisor course as a minimum), and experienced individual responsible for the safety of an employee (such as team leaders or crew leaders) may perform the function of an experienced person to provide the supervised field experience required by HAZWOPER [1]. Although having the appropriate certificates of completion would satisfy regulatory requirements, you should also consider time of service and experience. A fresh college graduate with training certificates and minimal field experience may be less desirable to perform supervised field experience than the safety professional with years of substantial field experience. [Pg.99]

The easiest way to get information about family medical history is to talk to relatives about their health. Have they had any medical problems, and when did they occur A family gathering could be a good time to discuss these issues. Additionally, obtaining medical records and other documents (such as obituaries and death certificates) can help complete a family medical history. It is important to keep this information up-to-date and to share it with a healthcare professional regularly. [Pg.30]

Surveys of professional lawn chemical applicators were conducted during the summer and fall of 2004. Subjects recruited included participants in Ohio State University s OARDC (Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center)-sponsored turf care professional educational seminars (Northeast Ohio Lawn Care Seminars). Approximately 300 professionals attended these events (held at the Wooster campus of Ohio State) to inform practitioners of best management practices, new technology, and health and safety issues. Participants included those who own and work in the lawn care industry in Ohio, spanning companies from small, one-person owner operated firms to large franchised national outfits. Professionals attend these seminars for purposes of certification participation in the survey was optional. [Pg.148]

In summary, it is the responsibility of the pharmacist to select the most appropriate quality of chemical for compounding, beginning with the USP/NF as the first choice and, if this is not available, descending the list of purity grades using professional judgment and discretion. A certificate of analysis for the chemicals should be obtained and kept on file in the pharmacy for these selected chemicals [17,18]. [Pg.23]

Direction of innovation The use of renewable raw materials and, closely linked with this, the compostability of prodnction waste are trend-setting. The absence of solvents was not traded in by nsing other problematic snbstances (such as e.g. chemical emulsifiers, drying agents or biocides). In professional applications the idea of water on wood and the comparatively long drying times are, however, considered with some reservations - despite the fact that the technical performance is in no way behind that of conventional products (EN certification). [Pg.94]

The current trend is to offer certain incentives, thus increasing the pay range for firefighters who choose to expand their professional horizons. This includes incentives for paramedic pay, advanced education, and increases for technical certifications such as CPR Instructor or Fire Service Instructor. [Pg.14]

All training should be documented. Some professional associations have introduced an accredited portfolio for members in which the career of an analyst can be documented and their skills clearly listed. Ideally, performance in any course taken should be assessed. Certificates on a wall for merely showing up for class are not sufficient. [Pg.291]

Any type of accreditation or license that directly applies to the job for which you re applying definitely should be added to your resume. This section can be used to showcase professional licenses you ve earned in addition to, or in lieu of, a college degree. If you are currently in the process of earning a certificate or professional license, this should also be listed within this section of your resume, along with the expected completion date. [Pg.10]

To be credentialed, health care professionals usually are required to submit specific information to the insurance carrier, such as license numbers, malpractice insurance information, board certifications, and copies of diplomas. Health insurance plans may have specific requirements, such as requiring physicians and other health care professionals to have specific credentials, carry a specified amount of malpractice insurance, or be board certified. The health care professional typically submits this information along with an application (Snella, 1999). [Pg.457]
