Plant-protection products are used in agriculture, horticulture, and elsewhere in order to prevent major yield and quality losses. They are an integral part of various types of crop maintenance measures. This means that other maintenance activities may make it necessary to re-enter treated areas relatively shortly after application (i.e., within the normal time frame for major plant-protection activities). The type of work to be done and the point of time for re-entering relative to the time of application of a plant-protection product may vary from crop to crop. 

In addition, a system for making sure staff are appropriately qualified and trained for the work that they are doing must be in place. This will enable an auditor to see clearly the demonstrated competence of the staff and how this has been checked. The requirements for all major items of equipment must be listed, to ensure that the equipment in use is suitable for the task, is in working condition and, where necessary, is calibrated. For all of the instrumentation there needs to be a documented schedule for maintenance. Measurements must be traceable, that is, the laboratory must be able to show how the calibration of measurement instruments is traceable to National or International Standards. Where this presents practical problems, as in some chemical measurements for example, interlaboratory comparison and the use of reference materials (and preferably Certified Reference Materials) will be required. 

The next phases are detailed planning of restoration measures, planning of project assessment and project implementation. The final phase, utilization, includes maintenance measures, evaluation of project success, adaptive management and the communication of results. Throughout all phases of the project, the general political and societal framework conditions are taken into account. In short, project managers must deal with complex processes and consider the contextual analysis [7]. 

The EUSAAR project of the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission is one of the steps towards a reliable and quality-controlled network of measurements [16]. The EUSAAR project improved and homogenized 20 European sites for measuring aerosol chemical, physical, and optical properties following a standardized protocol of instrument maintenance, measurement procedures, and data delivery in common format to a common database. EUSAAR also provided intercomparison and calibration workshops as well as training for the station operators. The work started in the EUSAAR is continued in ACTRIS infrastructure of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission.

The EndoTester has many applications. In general, the most useful application is the ability to objectively measure an endoscope s performance prior to purchase, and in routine clinical use as part of a program of prospective maintenance. Measuring parameters of scope performance can facilitate equipment purchase. Vendor claims of instrument capabilities can be validated as a part of the negotiation process. Commercially available evaluation systems (for original equipment manufacturers) can cost upward of 50,000, yet by employing the benefits of virtual instrumentation and a standard PC,...

Maintenance Measures for preserving or restoring the correct state as well as for establishing and judging the actual state of the technical equipment of a system (these measures comprise functional tests, maintenance and repair and include the harmonization of the maintenance objectives with company objectives and the determination of maintenance strategies). 

Maintenance, surveillance and in-service inspection have a common objective, which is to ensure that the plant is operated in accordance with the design assumptions and intent, and within the operational limits and conditions. Maintenance, for example, should always be followed by a series of tests. Results of surveillance or in-service inspection should be compared with the acceptance criteria. If the results fall outside the acceptance criteria, corrective actions should be initiated. Such actions should include corrective maintenance measures such as adjustment, repair or replacanent of defective items to prevent recurrence. These activities should be planned and co-ordinated effectively. A conunon database should be established in order to share relevant data and evaluations of results among the organizations that are involved in the planning and implementation of MS I activities. 

Preventive Maintenance measures, inspection plans, integrated condition monitoring systems and the availability of service and spare parts at any time over the entire lifetime ensure reliability of an electrolysis system. 

TVO has the philosophy of rolling 40 years plant lifetime . Fourth term [S(P/F, /%, )] The fourth term translates the future value of salvage to present value. This is a one time event rather than a uniform series and therefore it involves the single payment present worth factors. Many corrosion measures, such as coatings and other repetitive maintenance measures, have no salvage value, in which cases this term is zero. 

Over the analysed wind turbine life time of 20 years its components are replaced completely at least once and considered as new after that (see Table 7). This planned component replacement is carried out for all four strategy options. This means that maintenance measures aim to keep downtime as a result of unplanned outages or maintenance as low as possible. A component replacement is not possible during the winter half year. If a replacement is due in a winter half year, it is waited until the summer half year begins to start the replacement. A replacement of a component requires a floating crane. 

The effect of component failures to the turbine availability is quite significant compared to the preventive and condition-based maintenance measures. The time between failure and finished repair depends strongly on the weather and the accessibility of the turbine. In contrary the turbine is still operating until a preventive or condition-based maintenance measure begins. It is important to note, that an instantaneous component failure can also lead to expansive damage on the component or the surrounding elements.

Depending on the machine s configuration, a post maintenance measurement may be performed immediately after maintenance or post maintenance measurement data may be acquired during the maintenance process.
