Evaluation Systems

The PRA procedures guide, NUREG/ CR-23(X), partitions human reliability analysis (HRA) into four phases (Figure 4.5-1). The familiarization phase, evaluates a sequence of events to identify human actions that directly affect critical process components. From plant visits and review, this part of HRA identifies plant-specific factors that affect human performance such as good or bad procedures used in the. sequence under consideration. The familiarization phase notes items overlooked during systems evaluation. [Pg.173]

TTie ability of the ventilation system to protect the worker efficiently can readily be determined by personal samples. The PIMEX method (see Chapter 12) can be used to determine the worker s exposure during various work phases. The capture efficiency as well as the supply air fraction can be measured using tracer gas techniques. Simple evaluation is carried out visually with smoke tube or pellet tests. Daily system evaluation is recommended using airflow or static pressure measurements at appropriate parts of the system. The air velocities, turbulence intensities, air temperature, mean radiant temperature, and air humidity should also be measured to provide an assessment ol thermal comfort. [Pg.978]

In 1991, the Verband der Automobilindustrie e. V. (VDA) published VDA 6.1, Quality Spstem Audit, a questionnaire on quality system evaluation based on DIN EN ISQ 9004. VDA 6 is a series of guides covering the basics for quality audits, auditing, and certification. They were therefore not intended as supplementary requirements to ISQ 9000 but as guides for auditors performing audits of automotive suppliers. Their intention was to improve auditor competency in the industry by providing a uniform interpretation of ISQ 9000 requirements and a common approach to automotive audits. VDA 6.1 has been revised several times and is currently in its fourth edition. There are nine volumes in the series (see Appendix A). [Pg.6]

Note For a system evaluation, including suction and discharge, the units of P must be the same, either gage or absolute. expressed as feet of fluid. [Pg.187]

Figure 7-14, Operational Check Sheet [25], lists 16 possible causes of overpressure in a process system. There are many others, and each system should be reviewed for its peculiarities. The ACTIV-OX chlorine dioxide system evaluated in this trial overcomes many of the problems associated with chlorine dioxide for the small water user. A chlorine dioxide precursor solution and a dilute acid solution are mixed in a 1 1 ratio immediately prior to injection into the water to be treated. The dose rate of chlorine dioxide is controlled by water meter signal to two proportioning pumps. The mixing of the two chemicals immediately produces a chlorine dioxide solution which is diluted to the required strength by injection into the water to be treated (Fig 3). [Pg.35]

It has commissioned over 40 third-party optimization evaluations known as Remediation System Evaluations (RSEs) at Superfund, RCRA, and Leaking Underground Storage Tank sites. [Pg.644]

In spite of the many reducing systems evaluated or proposed (often quite convincingly), sodium dithionite remains the agent almost universally preferred [242] others such as thiourea dioxide, sulphinates and hydroxyacetone are only used for special purposes. The advantages and disadvantages of the most important reducing agents are summarised in Table 12.38. [Pg.441]

Thus, for hazard identification, only the measurement of one or two temperatures is necessary. Actually, for equipment without a heating or cooling system, evaluation of the term (d2T/dt2) greater than zero is sufficient. The method is independent of detailed process knowledge and, generally, of human judgment. [Pg.166]

On zinc phosphate conversion coatings, the "Mannich" derivatives of poly-4-vinylphenol have demonstrated performance equivalent to chromic chromate systems in salt spray, humidity, and physical testing. In addition. Table III illustrates results observed with automotive body paint systems evaluated by the "scab" or "cycle" test which causes failure more typical of actual end use conditions than do salt spray evaluations. Again, results equivalent to chromic-chromate post-treatments were obtained. In addition, the humidity resistance and adhesion tests were essentially equivalent to the chromium controls. [Pg.209]
