In wet combustion, water is injected concurrently and alternately with air, extending the steam 2one and aiding heat transfer to the cmde oil reducing oil viscosity. This can decrease injected air produced oil ratio and improve project economics.

Teams such as quality improvement teams (QIT), may be used for implementation of all Quality Management projects. These teams are usually established for specific improvement projects and consist of staff involved in the management processes under review. For this project, PSM and ESH specialists, operations, maintenance, and engineering representatives would be members of the team. 

It is often used to judge small improvement projects on operating plant. Typically, a pay-back time of 2 to 5 years would be expected from such projects.

The quality improvement project or action starts with the identification of an improvement opportunity which is based on measures of quality losses and/or on comparisons against organizations recognized as leaders in a particular field. The process owner should represent and interpret these metrics to the organizations leadership. The metric output from a process is the basis for management and leadership s action in resource deployment and approval of continuous improvement projects. Key operating parameters such as number of nonconformances and regulatory observations against the process should be tracked and factored into the maturity of the process. 

Equation (3.24) requires that the production volume allocated to a plant does not exceed technical capacity of the plant. Capacity consumption factors are site-specific to account for productivity differences and time dependent to allow for discrete process improvement projects. A plant s technical capacity is calculated by multiplying the number of production lines installed with the capacity per line (3.25). It can be varied between a lower and an upper bound (3.26). Restriction (3.27) states that from each plant class only one plant can be open at a site. The rationale behind this restriction is that only one plant type (size and degree of automation combination) should be put in place at a given site and capacity can be adjusted via the number of production lines. It is not implied that all production lines necessarily have to be in one building. For sites with utility capacity restrictions, constraint (3.28) ensures the available capacity is not exceeded. 

Cost improvement and productivity gains are a continuous process in any enterprise. Financial sponsors focus heavily on cost, particularly in the early phase of an investment, and especially when an LBO has been a divestment by larger conglomerates. In chemical companies, cost improvement projects often focus on overhead cost and plant productivity. Such approaches are usually implemented in tandem with projects that strive to make the organization more market-driven and functional for the business. They may also require investment in plant automation to improve plant productivity.

Having discussed statistical methodology particularly appropriate to studies whose primary purpose is simply to identify factors with the largest influence on a response, we will now consider methods aimed more directly at detailed experimental quantification of the pattern of factor influence on one or more responses. The goal of the exploratory project stage is to provide initial confirmation of marketplace interest and technical feasibility. Business extensions and process improvement projects should provide transition details on how the project will move from the idea to the intended business. The following deliverables are required for a project to move into the EP stage.
