The general scheme of an AMS beam line installed in a tandem accelerator has already been represented in Figure 16.1. As an example of one of these systems, Figure 16.3 shows the layout of the AMS facility at the LABEC laboratory in Florence,[28] where a 3 MV tandem accelerator by High Voltage Engineering Europe (HVEE) is installed. [Pg.465]

Subsurface Method. The subsurface method requires a high back-pressure foam maker and forces this foam through a pipe into the bottom of the tank. This pipe may be the existing product line or a line installed specifically for... [Pg.216]

Experience at Barringer Research Laboratory demonstrated that the most effective method to reduce stray light is to combine several reduction procedures. The lead/calcium selectivity of the instrumentation as received was 160, but this has been increased to greater than 1,000,000 with the manufacturer s modifications. The actual steps included replacement of the calcium 393.3 nm line with the 315.9 nm line, replacement of the lead 405.8 nm line with the 220.3 nm line, installation of an interference filter mask over the lead photomultiplier, and computer correction of the residual calcium interference. The stray light reduction obtained by installation of interference filters is presented for three common concomitants in Table II. In many cases the stray light levels were less than or equivalent to the detection limit. The interference filters and the photomultiplier masks (which reduce the entrance angle to the photomultiplier to include only the receiver mirror) improved the detection limits for many elements in the array by decreasing the system band pass. [Pg.124]

The installed valve characteristic. This depends upon the ratio of the pressure drop through the valve to the total pressure drop across the whole process line installation including the valve. If a valve of linear sensitivity is handling the entire system pressure drop, then its installed characteristic will also be linear. As the percentage of the pressure drop falls off, the installed characteristic rapidly changes to that of an on-off valve. The increasing-sensitivity valve also loses its characteristic in the same way, but to a far lesser extent. Hence, this type of valve is frequently chosen in preference to the linear type. Peters(U> has discussed the effects of choosing valves with incorrect characteristics. [Pg.724]

Installation qualification (or verification with the existing line) for each processing machine, and assembly according to the processing line. Installation qualification is required to confirm that all machines and equipment are installed with all functional parts at the specific sites intended. Preventive and corrective maintenance programs should be established. [Pg.237]

Equation (3.24) requires that the production volume allocated to a plant does not exceed technical capacity of the plant. Capacity consumption factors are site-specific to account for productivity differences and time dependent to allow for discrete process improvement projects. A plant s technical capacity is calculated by multiplying the number of production lines installed with the capacity per line (3.25). It can be varied between a lower and an upper bound (3.26). Restriction (3.27) states that from each plant class only one plant can be open at a site. The rationale behind this restriction is that only one plant type (size and degree of automation combination) should be put in place at a given site and capacity can be adjusted via the number of production lines. It is not implied that all production lines necessarily have to be in one building. For sites with utility capacity restrictions, constraint (3.28) ensures the available capacity is not exceeded. [Pg.100]

The additional capacity restriction (3.98) accounts for the capacity of the shared resource. In order to determine shared-resource capacity, restriction (3.99) can be used if the number of equipment units is correlated with the number of production lines installed at a plant. In combination with the integrality restriction (3.100) it enforces the step-wise increase of the shard resource capacity in line with the development of overall plant capacity. For example, if for every three production lines one equipment unit is to be installed, the second unit will be installed once the fourth production line is put into operation. If the model is to select the number of equipment units independently, restriction (3.99) has to be deactivated. Finally, for the option to temporarily shut down production lines capacity constraint 24 needs to be modified as shown above. [Pg.114]

During phase 1 of construction of the Tandem Accelerator Superconducting Cyclotron (TASCC) facility at Chalk River, the existing tandem accelerator was reversed, a superconducting cyclotron built and some 60 metres of beam-transport line installed to connect the two and to deliver beams to an interim target line" The result, which required an appreciable building extension, is shown in figure 1 ... [Pg.412]

To install streams for feeds, product, and intermediate connections, click the arrow to the right of the Material Streams box on the bottom left of the window and select Material. Moving the cursor to the flowsheet produces a number of arrows on the inlets and outlets of the various blocks. A feedstream is installed by first clicking the flowsheet and then clicking the arrow pointing to a feed valve. Figure 2.32 shows stream 1 connected to valve VI. Figure 2.33 shows the final flowsheet with all lines installed and some streams renamed for clarity. Save the file in an appropriate directory. [Pg.74]

For composite samples the method discriminated separate Ti02 and CaC03 components and accurately determined their proportions. In addition, in combination with ultrasonic attenuation measurements, the size fractions of iron ore slurries below 10 and 30 pm were determined to within 1.3% and 1.0% respectively when compared with laser diffraction measurements [272]. According to Coghill et. al. velocity measurements are complementary to attenuation methods but better suited to the finer size fractions. A description of the analyzer and the results of plant feasibility tests and on-line installation has been presented [273]. [Pg.586]

The original gas line installation for the TGA was modified in order to operate safely with CO (See Fig. 1). The outlet of the TGA, initially open to the room, was connected to a steel tube of 6mm internal diameter for ca. 400 mm, followed by a plastic tube of 10 mm i.d, that conducted the gasses to the suction system. This change in the installation did not seem to affect the results significantly. As a precaution, a CO detector was used during all the CO2/CO experiments. [Pg.51]

An all-brick divider wall should never be used to make two chambers out of a single concrete structure. If the two chambers are filled to much different depths, the wall is sure to fall down toward the low level side. In addition, the wall can never be made liquid-tight. There will always be leakage from one side of the wall to the other. There should always be a concrete divider wall installed in such a vessel, the membrane made continuous throughout each cavity, and the brick lining installed over it in the same thickness and design as in the rest of the vessel. [Pg.253]

Two lines, installed in 1962, were selected by the owner and the pipe manufacturer as a site for obtaining much needed data which could be used to determine the long term corrosion resistance of unlined aromatic amine cured epoxy fiberglass pipe in typical oil field flow line service. It was agreed that sections of pipe would be removed at regular intervals and tested so that the physical properties could be compared with the original properties of the pipe. This section documents the results of the 25 year history of these pipelines. [Pg.276]

Telecommunications equipment installers and repairers usually acquire their skills through formal training at technical schools or college, where they major in electronics, communications technology, or computer science. Military experience in the field, on-the-job training with a software manufacturer, or prior work as a telecommunications line installer may also provide entry into more complicated or complex positions. [Pg.747]

Proper surface preparation is critical. If not done properly, poor bonding or mechanical damage to the liner may result. It is important that surface preparation specifications be followed. Prior to lining installation, the surface should be inspected to guarantee that the specifications have been followed. [Pg.20]

The authors would like to thank many of the Kaiser Optical Systems, Inc., (KOSI) customers and colleagues for enlightening discussions with regard to the development of process Raman spectroscopy. We would also like to thank several unnamed customers for providing slides of actual on-line installation to KOSI. The authors would also like to thank KOSI for permission to both publish this work and reproduce many of the slides from the KOSI Raman slide library. [Pg.150]
