Pipe, Welded

A separate works have been carried out in order to develop AUGUR 4 2 procedure for expert ISI of primary circuit piping welds. [Pg.195]

Overhead tanks, purifiers, and degasing drums are covered. All pipe welding is to be done according to Section IX of the ASME code, and all piping must be seamless carbon steel, minimum schedule 80 for sizes inches (38.1 mm) and smaller, and a minimum of schedule 40 for pipe sizes 2 inches (50.8 mm) or greater. [Pg.167]

An unusual—and unnecessary—dead-end was a length of 2-in. pipe welded onto a process line to provide a support for an instrument (Figure 9-2). Water collected in the support. Four years after it had been installed, the process line corroded through, and a leak of liquefied gas occuired. [Pg.181]

The production of benzylpenicillin is very sensitive to temperature. A lot of metabolic heat is generated and the fermentation temperature has to be reduced by controlled cooling. This heat transfer is achieved by circulating chilled water through banks of pipes inside the vessel (which also serve as baffles) or through external limpet coils on the jacket of the vessel. These coils consist of continuous lengths of pipe welded in a shallow spiral round the vessel. This cooling water system is also used to cool batched medium sterilized in the vessel prior to its inoculation. [Pg.153]

Auxiliary piping welded to alloy steel casings shall be of a material with the same nominal properties as the casing material or shall be of low carbon austenitic stainless steel. Other materials compatible with the casing material and intended service may be nsed with the purchaser s approval. [Pg.40]

When heat treatment is required, piping welds shall be made before the component is heat treated. [Pg.40]

Stractural pipe Welded or seamless pipe used for structural or load bearing applications in aboveground installations. Fabricated in nominal wall thicknesses and sizes to ASTM specifications in round, square, rectangular, and other cross-sectional shapes. [Pg.159]

Some applications of ultrasonics are inspection for flaws in forgings, flat-rolled products such as strips, sheets and plates, castings, extrusion billets, rolling blooms or slabs, bar stock, pipes, welded joints, bonded joints, monitoring cracks, measurement of thickness, measurement of fluid levels, microstructural features and monitoring corrosion. [Pg.138]

Drill two TV holes 180° apart in the pipe nipple. Do not drill a hole on the pipe weld seam. The hole centers should both be 6" from the same end of the pipe nipple. [Pg.129]

If an orifice flange is not available for this purpose, the regular pipe welding neck flange can be drilled, bored and taped as shown in Figure 7-90 providing the flange is at least 1-1/8-inch thick — preferably thicker. [Pg.264]

The important features of the PWR core are shown in Figure 19.12 and described in 19.13.1. The design with a pressure vessel without facilities for fuel handling imder pressure necessitates a yearly shutdown for fuel rq>lacement. However, this is not considered a great inconv ence as a PWR anyhow has to be shutdown on a regular basis for safety inspection of pipes, welds, etc, and for routine maintenance. The need to shut down the reactor and open the pressure vessel in order to replace fuel also makes the PWR (as well as the VVER) resistent to concealed nuclear proliferation. [Pg.562]

The attraction of fusion welding for the gas industry is that it enables very secure, highly durable pipe Joints to be made at relatively low cost. Also, unlike steel welding, which requires highly skilled operators and expensive equipment, PE pipe welding requires only simple equipment and procedures that are less demanding of operator skills. [Pg.48]
