Equipment pumps

Vacuum systems, largely for the semiconductor industry, are the main source of sales (see Semiconductors). The sales of all vacuum equipment, pumps (qv), valves, sensors (qv), etc, in the United States, including apphcations not in vacuum systems, generally exceed 500 X 10 /yr. A reasonably comprehensive hst of high vacuum manufacturers is supphed by the American Vacuum Society s exhibitor s hst. In Europe, a special issue of the journal A acuum serves similady. [Pg.379]

The Guidelines for Process Equipment Reliability Data with Data Tables covers a variety of components used in the chemical process industry, including electrical equipment, analyzers, instrumentation and controls, detectors, heat exchangers, piping systems, rotating equipment (pump, compressor, and fan), valves, and fire protection systems. [Pg.9]

More than any other item of equipment, pumps require maintenance while the rest of the plant is on line. Many incidents have occurred because pumps under repair were not properly isolated from the running plant. See Section 1.1. [Pg.208]

Operators also need to test flame failure controls, check the fuel delivery equipment (pumps, fuel lines, regulators, etc.), and keep adequate fuel consumption records. [Pg.121]

Inspecting all associated pretreatment equipment, pumps, tanks, and valves also, all internal water surfaces whenever a boiler, condenser, FW heater, or other item of equipment is opened... [Pg.137]

The main failure of equipment is a loss of process containment. The consequences depend on the properties and the amount of the leaking material and the conditions both inside and outside of process equipment. Pumps and compressors (Marshall, 1987) are perhaps the most vulnerable items of pressurised systems, because they contain moving parts and they are also subject to erosion and cavitation. Pumps and compressors produce also vibration, which may lead to fatigue failure. Both seals and bearings of pumps and compressors are liable to failure. In addition agitator systems present difficulties due to mechanical stresses, though they operate at much lower speeds than pumps. [Pg.73]

Poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) (1) resins are semicrystalline thermoplastics used in a wide variety of applications, most commonly in durable goods that are formed by injection molding. Applications include electronic and communications equipment, computers, televisions, kitchen and household appliances, industrial equipment, lighting systems, gardening and agricultural equipment, pumps, medical devices, food handling systems, handles, power and hand tools, bobbins and spindles, and automotive parts in both under-the-hood and exterior applications. Additionally, PBT is very widely used to form electrical connectors. PBT, through its many blended products, can be tailored to suit numerous applications. [Pg.293]

For around 20 years now, numerous standards and recommendations have been drawn up at national and international level and revised, whenever necessary, in accordance with the state of the art. These standards and recommendations must be observed whenever use is made of vacuum equipment (pumps, gauges, valves, etc.) and vacuum apparatus, systems and plants are assembled. They not only contain specifications applying specially to vacuum technology, but also go beyond this specific field and involve, for example, physical units, formulas, noise protection regulations, etc. [Pg.178]

The largest possible number of connections should be automatic TIG orbital welding without external hller wire (butt-welded). Manual welding or tri-clamp connections are authorized case-by-case, but have to be minimized and reserved manual welding is needed for inaccessible orbital welding, tri-clamp for sensors connections, and moving equipment (pump, hose pipe, etc.). [Pg.62]

The whole equipment (pump, tank, sensor, valves, heat exchangers, etc.) must be tagged with an engraved stainless steel tag. The tag number must follow the number of the P l. [Pg.68]

Figure 3.6a shows how costs for a new distillation system vary with the reflux ratio. It expresses the capital cost as an annual cost. This can be achieved hy dividing the capital cost by the expected payout period. A discounted cash flow (DCF) analysis is used for estimating this payout period. The capital cost shonld include the costs of auxiliaries (reboiler, condenser, vacuum equipment, pumps, piping in many cases, costs of vent systems, coolant, and heating medium handling equipment are also affected). The operating costs should include reboiler... [Pg.98]

The total fixed capital investment (FCI) for the entire system taking all costs for heat-exchanger equipment, pumps, piping, installation, etc., into account is equal to the initial cost of the catalyst solution plus 4.5 times the purchased cost of the reactor. Assume none of the unreacted materials can be recovered. [Pg.860]

Because this method makes use of standard HPLC chromatographic equipment (pump, sample cell with filters, on-line detectors), there is a tendency to call it chromatographic or frontal chromatographic . We suggest that this tendency should be resisted it is misleading since there is no chromatographic effect or phenomenon. [Pg.152]

The pump room was obstructed with the normal equipment, pumps, valves, pipes and ladders, the same as when it was in service. [Pg.183]

The ability to list the items of equipment (pump, detector, etc.) used for a particular analysis. This function helps to automate the administrative records associated with an analysis and to meet GMP compliance. [Pg.472]
