Drawings, preliminary

Once the candidate corrective measure alternatives have been identified, a more detailed evaluation of each alternative needs to be undertaken. From an engineering perspective, the first step in the evaluation process would include the development of a conceptual design for each alternative. The conceptual design would consist of a process description, a process flow diagram and a layout drawing. Preliminary sizing of equipment and utility and land requirements would be developed. In addition, chemical requirements and residuals produced can be estimated. From the conceptual design, permitability and residuals disposal issues can be identified and addressed. 

Ginkgo has been examined in a number of clinical populations, including Alzheimer s disease, vascular dementia, and age-associated cognitive decline. Most studies employed the extracts EGb 761 or LI 1370. Many have methodological flaws including limited sample size or insufficient description of randomization, patient characteristics, measurement techniques, or result presentation, but there are a number of well-controlled studies available for drawing preliminary conclusions (Field and Vadnal 1998).

Stratospheric sulfate and other gases were collected by high altitude aircraft and balloons (Gandrud et d., 1983 Mroz et d., 1983 Vedder et d., 1983). These measurements indicated an injection of about 7.6 Tg of sulfate into the global stratosphere. Ground and airborne extinction measurements were also carried out (Clarke et d., 1983 Coulson, 1983 Dutton and De Luisi, 1983 Spinhirne, 1983 Witteborn et d., 1983) as well as comparisons with Lidar measurements (Swissler et d., 1983). Other reports on the initial phases of this phenomenon and attempts at drawing preliminary conclusions have by now appeared some will be mentioned in the following section. 

The layout can only be started after a process flow diagram is available. The process flow diagram includes information such as the principal equipment items and order of the process flow. A sized equipment Hst is also useful from the standpoint of knowing what spaces are required to fit the equipment. Availabihty of a preliminary piping and instmmentation drawing (P ID) provides more information to aid in spacing equipment and thinking about piperack requirements.

The proposal shall eontain preliminary eross-seetional outline and arrangement drawings. 

Preliminary Process Flowsheet. This will show major equipment and lines, preliminary equipment details (vessel diameter, number of trays, pump flow and driver horsepower, etc.), major instrumentation, and, it is hoped, have a material balance at the bottom of each drawing with flows keyed to a numbering system on the diagram. The process flowsheets should cover both the process and utility sides of the plant. 

In preliminary tests, melt mixed blends of PP and LCP were processed at six different temperatures (Tcyi 230, 240, 250, 260, 270, and 280°C) with a Brabender Plasti-Corder PLE 651 laboratory single-screw extruder. The measured melt temperatures were about 10°C higher than the cylinder temperatures (Tcyi). The objective was to study the influence of temperature on the size and shape of the dispersed LCP phase. Two different polypropylenes were used to ascertain the effect of the viscosity of the matrix on the final morphology. Different draw ratios were obtained by varying the speed of the take-up machine. 

Some companies do not allow the use of this sheet in their work primarily because of the confidential nature of some of the.process data. Wliere it is used, it presents a concise summary of the complete process and key mechanical data for assembly. This type of sheet requires more time for complete preparation, but like all engineering developments preliminary issues are made as information is available. Often the sheet is not complete until the piping and other detailed drawings are finished. This then is an excellent record of the process as well as a work sheet for training operators of the plant. 

Analogously, for polyethyleneterephtalate, drawing procedures in multiple steps, with preliminary drawings at room temperature generating a mesomorphic form [127], have been suggested by several authors [128-130], in order to get high modulus and high tenacity fibers. 

Drawing a tube off to a spindle is the simplest of the basic glassworking operations. It is a convenient alternative to cutting glass tubing when short lengths are required and it is the preliminary stage to many other operations.

In the detailed design stage, everything must be specified. Each phase of the preliminary design must now be done in much more detail. The flow sheets develop into piping and instrument diagrams. The duty requirements for a piece of equipment become a specification sheet. The layout drawings may be replaced by a scale model, and a construction bid or detailed cost estimate is obtained to verify the previous cost estimate.
