Brabender Plasti-corder

Brabender Plasti-Corder C 1-102 low shear rate fair to good C. W. Brabender OHG, Duisburg,... [Pg.184]

In preliminary tests, melt mixed blends of PP and LCP were processed at six different temperatures (Tcyi 230, 240, 250, 260, 270, and 280°C) with a Brabender Plasti-Corder PLE 651 laboratory single-screw extruder. The measured melt temperatures were about 10°C higher than the cylinder temperatures (Tcyi). The objective was to study the influence of temperature on the size and shape of the dispersed LCP phase. Two different polypropylenes were used to ascertain the effect of the viscosity of the matrix on the final morphology. Different draw ratios were obtained by varying the speed of the take-up machine. [Pg.625]

Zinc and Calcium Stearate Synergism. With the Brabender plasti-corder, it is possible to follow the viscosity variations of a polymer because of physical or chemical modifications. The shape of the typical plasto-grams for PVC plasticized and stabilized with calcium stearate (Ca-(OCOR)2) (6.6 phr), zinc stearate (Zn(OCOR)2) (6.6 phr), and their mixture (3.3 phr both stearates), are shown in Figures 1, 2, and 3, respectively (-----). Because of degradation, the first peak corresponds to... [Pg.394]

Polymer-stabilizer mixtures were homogenized in the W 50 EH chamber of a Brabender Plasti-Corder laboratory mixer at 190 °C and 60 rpm for 10 min. After removing the material from the chamber, 6 mm thick plaques 8 x 8 cm were molded in a laboratory hot press at 200 °C for 2 min under 50 kN for deairation plus another 2 min nnder 100 kN followed by water cooling to 70 °C for ca. 15 min under 150 kN. [Pg.347]

The Brabender plasti-corder flow test is used with screw injection molding of TS resins to graphically and accurately measure the flow as it relates to IM. Concern about whether a compound would have a sufficient flow life during its residence time in the barrel led to the use of this test. It is basically a torque rheometer designed to measure and record torque (in meter-grams) vs. the mixing time. It produces a flow curve that is a measure of the compound s processability. [Pg.342]

Mixture of MAH, BPO and DMF added in 4 equal portions at 2 min intervals to 40g molten Chemplex 1014 LDPE in a Brabender Plasti-corder total reaction time 10 min including 2 min to melt LDPE and 2 min after last addition. [Pg.173]

The polymer compounds were prepared by homogenisation of the components in the mixing chamber (350) of a Brabender Plasti-Corder PL2000 with a rotor speed of 50 rpm, at 200 °C. Sheets (100 X 100 X 3 mm) were formed using laboratory compression moulding equipment. [Pg.190]

Rogers, M.G. (1970) Rheological interpretation of Brabender plasti-corder (extruder head) data, Ind. Eng. Chem. Process Des. Develop., 9,49-52. [Pg.77]

An alternative approach to the use of a conventional rheometer is to use a Brabender Plasti-corder or Plastograph with an extruder rather than a mixing attachment. These could be used to obtain flow curves whilst alternatively, a Garvey die may be fitted onto the extruder head and extrudability (as assessed by the ability to extrude sharp edged products without feathering) may be studied. [Pg.34]

Brabender Plasti-corder breakdown of polyisoprenes (speed 30rpm, starting temperature 40 °C). [Pg.240]

Using the Brabender Plasti-corder the black incorporation times for natural and synthetic polyisoprenes may be measured (Fig. 4). It can be seen that absorption and dispersion of filler is, as expected, much faster with the synthetic polymers. [Pg.240]
