Detailed Design stage

Each preliminary component specification and build-to baseline generated during preliminary design of the subsystem should be evolved into a component specification and a build-to baseline, respectively. Final component doenments should include idmitification of recommended parts and interfaces resolution of component-level risks and for each component, down to the lowest subcomponent, the design for quality factors to include, as appropriate, producibility, verifiability, ease of distribution, usability, supportability, trainabdity, and disposabdity. [Pg.26]

The enterprise shall apply the SEP to each component and its subcomponents for the purpose of generating component functional and design architectures. Specific activities to be accomplished are fisted in Table 4. [Pg.26]

The enterprise should decompose the components of each assembly to a level sufficient for design completeness, complete the definition of each subcomponent and the component, and control the interfaces among the subcomponents. Component requirements should be allocated among the subcomponents in a manner which ensures that requiremrats traceability is maintained in both directions. [Pg.26]

The enterprise should mitigate eomponent-level risks that were assessed to be critical to component development during subsystem definition. For critical component risks, simulations, scale model tests, or prototype tests should be used to demonstrate mitigation to an acceptable risk level with respect to cost, schedule, and/or performance. The enterprise should assess and mitigate subcomponent risks and prioritize critical risks based on probability of occurrence and related consequences to cost, schedule, and/or performance. [Pg.27]

The enterprise shall identify the interface requirements between humans and components, subassemblies, or subcomponents, as necessary. These interface requirements include performance, workloads, design constraints, and usability. [Pg.27]

A typical project has several phases (illustrated below). This chapter on securing support concentrates on the conceptual design and transition to the detailed design stage. You should remember that the team will need to seeure support from different people at other stages of the project as well. [Pg.12]

In the detailed design stage, everything must be specified. Each phase of the preliminary design must now be done in much more detail. The flow sheets develop into piping and instrument diagrams. The duty requirements for a piece of equipment become a specification sheet. The layout drawings may be replaced by a scale model, and a construction bid or detailed cost estimate is obtained to verify the previous cost estimate. [Pg.354]

Also indices such as the Dow Fire and Explosion Hazard Index and the Mond Index have been suggested to measure the degree of inherent SHE of a process. Rushton et al. (1994) pointed out that these indices can be used for the assessment of existing plants or at the detailed design stages. They require detailed plant specifications such as the plot plan, equipment sizes, material inventories and flows. Checklists, interaction matrices, Hazop and other hazard identification tools are also usable for the evaluation, because all hazards must be identified and their potential consequences must be understood. E.g. Hazop can be used in different stages of process design but in restricted mode. A complete Hazop-study requires final process plans with flow sheets and PIDs. [Pg.39]

Many companies engage specialist Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) companies, commonly known as contractors, at the detailed design stage. [Pg.7]

The results of the preliminary study will enable potential problem areas to be seen ahead of the detail design stage. The results will have been obtained at a minimum cost. [Pg.308]

The preliminary operations of secondary loop isolation from the primary part and residual sodium draining and collection in storage tanks for treatment in the sodium treatment installation. These operations are currently either at the detailed design stage, or pending execution on site work programmed from 2002 to 2004. [Pg.206]

The enterprise shall prepare and control the specifications needed to guide componmt design activities of the detailed design stage of subsystem definition. [Pg.24]

The enterprise should update and control all changes to approved specifications during the detailed design stage. Typically for this stage in the life cycle the approved specifications may include the system, subsystem, and component interface specifications the system specification and product, subsystem, and assembly specifications. [Pg.28]

Component reviews should be completed by the enterprise for each component at the completion of the detailed design stage. The purpose of this review is to ensure that... [Pg.29]

Once a layout has been approved by all disciplines (including Hazop review where applicable) and frozen, its integrity has to be maintained through the following detail design stages to prevent unauthorized encroachment on discipline space and the compromising of access ways. [Pg.111]

The targeted dates for prototype or commercial deployment vary between early 2010s and 2030. Most of the concepts are at an early design stage, and only a few have reached the basic or detailed design stages. [Pg.3]
