After a description of each task, we present the results of the document analysis and a summary of the experts consultation. Interviews were mainly categorised on stmcture , property and their interrelations (Meijer, Bulte, Pilot, 2005). This section starts with a more extensive description for the task about crockery. The thoroughness of the investigation will depend upon the situation. If the contaminant is in a pre-clinical, early chemical process, then a complete identification may not be necessary. Clinical batches will almost always require a properly documented analysis. The most common methods of data collection in qualitative research designs are interviews, observations, and document analysis. 

The third most common method for collecting data in qualitative research designs is known as document analysis. While the thoughts, words, and actions of research subjects are essential, generating thick description requires a complete description of the context in which these dioughts and words are formed and actions take place. Course syllabi, copies of lab experiments, copies of student evaluation forms, and copies of research proposals are typical examples of documents gathered to analyze in a qualitative research design. 

The methodology in Pienta s research 18) on productivity in chemistry education research used document analysis of records drawn from issues of the ACS Directory of Graduate Research 19,20). 

For example, a researcher may observe the lectures in a general chemistry course and repeatedly hear the instructor characterize the laboratory experiments as inquiry-oriented. Yet, a document analysis of the actual experimental procedures using a rubric for laboratory inquiry reveals that most of the experiments require the students to do little more than follow directions and perform calculations as directed. Or, during interviews students may tell a researcher that they consider themselves to be hands-on learners and that visual information is very important for their learning. Yet, during observations of homework problem-solving sessions throughout the semester, the researcher observes that these same students do not once pick up a model kit and build models of compounds to help them answer the homework questions even when such tools are readily available. 

The log section of fieldnotes includes the factual information regarding the date and site of data collection, the type of data collection (covert participant observation, focus group interview, document analysis of student evaluations, etc.), the names of both the research subjects and the researchers collecting the data, and a statement of the purpose of this data collection activity. 

Chapter 7 is titled Qualitative Methods for Effectiveness Evaluation When Numbers Are Not Enough. Subjects covered are interviews and focus groups, questionnaires and open-ended questions, and observations and document analysis. Again, stress is given to verification of the measures.

Documented safety analysis Documented safety analysis means a documented analysis of the extent to which a nuclear facility can be operated safely with respect to workers, the public, and the environment, including a description of the conditions, safe boundaries, and hazard controls that provide the basis for ensuring safety. 

MORT can be equally useful and even more valuable, however, as an analytical tool to reduce or eliminate potential sources of accidents. Such uses have been frequent, but not widespread moreover, their application to criticality safety problems, with certain exceptions, has been neglected. Yet criticality safety requires the kind of thorou, highly disciplined, and carefuUy documented analysis that can be greatly strengthened by the use of MORT techniques. A job safety assessment or analysis should be performed at the start of any task or operation. The designated competent or authorized person should evaluate the task or operation to identify potential hazards and determine the necessary controls. This assessment should focus on actual worksite conditions or procedures that differ from or were not anticipated in the related project or phase hazard analysis. In addition, the authorized person should ensure that each employee involved in the task or operation is aware of the hazards related to the task or operation and of the measures or procedures that workers and visitors must use to protect themselves. Note The job safety assessment is not intended to be a formal, documented analysis, but instead is more of a quick check of actual site conditions and a review of planned procedures and precautions. The growth of the Internet, particularly the World Wide Web, has also increased the amount of information available for statistical and probability research. This information comes both in the form of raw data and in documented analysis. Machine vision systems have uses in a wide variety of disciplines, from medicine to robotics, from automatic inspection to autonomous navigation, and from document analysis to multimedia systems. New machine vision systems are constantly emerging and becoming a part of everyday life. In this section, we present a brief description some of the various applications of machine vision.
