A note of caution is necessary for companies seeking to enter contract research in Western countries and Japan. Because of the low salaries of Chinese and Indian scientists and their longer work hours, the cost advantage of Asian competitors is even more dramatic than in other segments of the hne-chemical industry. In 1979, Zhejiang University of Technology developed successfully, AllO-2 low temperature ammonia synthesis catalysts by adjusting interaction between electronic promoters and structural promoters. This catalyst was the pioneer of Chinese Alio series catalysts. Later, Nanjing Research Institute of Chemical Industry, Fuzhou University, Linqu catalyst plant, Zhengzhou University and Hubei Institute of Chemistry developed AllO-1, AllO-3, AllO-4, A110-5Q (spherical) and AllO-6 ammonia synthesis catalysts, which forms the AllO series catalysts and have been most widely used in China since 1980s.

Greenpeaee says, aceording to its own research via Chinese suppliers website, several other global brands source their textiles from facilities in the industrial zones. However, according to the report, this information does not give any indication about hazardous chemicals used or released by these specific facilities. It says transparency of information between suppliers and brands - and a full hazardous substance use inventory - is needed to eliminate dangerous chemicals and substitute them with safer alternatives.
