PHA can be used in the controlled release of insecticides, which can be integrated into the pellets and sown along with the farmer s crops. The insecticide would be released at a rate related to the level of pest activity since the bacteria breaking down the polymer would be affected by the same environmental conditions as that of the soil pests [5]. For example, micro- and nanoparticles of P(3HB) and P(31TB-co-3ITV) were used in the controlled release formulation of the herbicide ametryn [251]. 

PHA can also be used in bacterial inoculants used to enhance Ni fixation in plants [252].

Orchid Cellmark is focused on identity DNA testing services for both, human and agriculture applications. Specifically, in the DNA testing services are used for food safety and selective trait breeding in the agriculture industry. The patented SNP method employs DNA polymerase for carrying out the biochemical reactions, which lead to the identification of the SNP by isolating the site of a suspected SNP. 

This study represents a simulation of DDT and its metabolite DDE of 40 years with reported agricultural applications. Model results for the different environmental compartments are evaluated by a comparison to observations... 

The model was forced with agricultural application data of the insecticide DDT compiled by Semeena and Lammel (2003). Statistical data of DDT consumption reported by member of the UN states to Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) were combined with other published data (details in Semeena and Lammel (2003)). The emission inventory assumed 100 % of p,p -DDT. After scaling the DDT consumption with crop land distribution, the data were extrapolated to the model grid. The result was a data set with spatially and temporally varying applications (accumulated application and temporal evolution shown in Figure 3.1). No seasonal or diurnal variation of the applications is considered. 

EGF may also find a novel agricultural application in the defleecing of sheep. Administration of EGF to sheep has a transient effect on the wool follicle bulb cell, which results in a weakening of the root that holds the wool in place. Although novel, this approach to defleecing is unlikely to be economically attractive.
