Advantages agricultural applications

In view of the given advantages, the application of furfural as a nematocide has the potential of becoming the greatest outlet for furfural, requiring the construction of many more furfural plants to satisfy the agricultural demand. 

Until now, BMs have only established niche markets, for example as tableware or plastic forks, knives and spoons for mass events, or in agricultural applications as pots or mulch foils. The technical and economic conditions in these areas are promising for BMs. Such advantages have not yet been realized fully, for example in substitution of BMs for mass-produced plastics, especially since they have some drawbacks as waste material. For instance, mixing BMs with mass-produced plastics is problematical due to incompatibilities. 

Commercial polyolefins show no significant reduction in molar mass in typical ambient biometric tests over many months or even years. Fine particles including nano-particles have become of major interest lately. Many industrial sectors such as pharmaceutical, agriculture, foods, chemicals, ceramics and electronics are expected to find applications and take advantage of the new fimctionalities and many desirable properties attributed to the ultra small size. 

The use of immunoassays for the determination of pesticides and veterinary medicines in food animals has increased since the early 1990s. The advantages of simple analysis, quick results, and high throughput make immunoassays a powerful technique for problematic matrices commonly encountered in animal agriculture. Careful development and validation are required to obtain accurate results, however. This review has demonstrated that most immunochemical techniques have been designed for use with milk samples, but a number of applications have also been developed for liver and muscle samples. The development of immunoassay techniques for residue analysis in eggs has clearly not been pursued to the extent of other edible tissues. 

Pyrethroids are used primarily for the control of household and agricultural insect pests, and secondarily in industrial, stored product, and veterinary applications. They are especially advantageous for use in northern climates because their toxicity is enhanced at low temperatures (Smith and Stratton 1986). Beside chemical weapons, they may use different toxic chemicals produced by the industry, the agriculture or failures in the industrial facilities during transportation, storage, fires and the like. They may take advantage also of the application of low doses of toxic chemicals which can provoke delayed and unknown effects of the intoxication.
