Three valve

The three valve aiTangement (Figure 6-42), using one expander inlet valve, one expander exhaust valve, and one expander bypass valve, has been tried with disappointing results. Some users have had to add... [Pg.378]

The cell is made up of one glass tube and three metal valves. The valves are open when they are in vertical position and are closed when in the horizontal position and allow maximum flow at the 45 position. When the three valves are closed, the liquid automatically flows into the solution compartment of the cell when the right-hand valve (solvent-inlet valve) is open, the liquid will be directed from the solution in-let tube into the solvent compartment of the cell by passing the solution compartment. The left hand valve is the solvent drain valve, and the near valve, the solution-drain valve. [Pg.104]

For easy production and manipulation, shut-off valves are designed predominantly as angle valves. Fig. 4.2-5 shows three valves for the pressure levels of 325 and 3600 bar. [Pg.195]

As with other packaging components, the incoming tests and specifications of metered valves, inspection attributes, and AQLs (acceptable quality levels) will need to be coordinated with the supplier. The valve should be considered as a critical package component and have incoming performance tests, such as spray weights and weight loss [13,14], The performance test could be conducted on a sample of the valve lots from either scale-up or pilot trials before the validation lots are prepared. This information may also be available for each lot from the supplier. It is recommended that each test shown in Table 3 be conducted on at least three valve lots as part of the validation program. [Pg.373]

At an ASME-approved flow facility, a total of 9 valves of a particular valve design or range are flow tested at 10% overpressure above set pressure. They select three valve sizes and three set pressures. This way they establish the KD factor of each test valve, considering the flow conditions and each measured orifice area. [Pg.69]

Now we need to install feed and product lines with valves and a pump. Clicking the Pressure Changers page tab produces a display of compressors, pumps, valves, and other components (see Fig. 2.30). Clicking the appropriate icon and inserting the device on the flowsheet produces the flowsheet shown in Figure 2.31 with three valves and one pump. The valves and pump have been renamed. [Pg.73]

FIGURE 3.27 An elastomeric peristaltic pump using three valve control channels. The fluidic channel is 100 pm wide and 10 pm high. Dimension of microvalve control channels = 100 pm by 100 pm by 10 pm applied air pressure = 50 kPa. Peristalsis was typically actuated by the pattern 101, 100, 110, 010, Oil, 001, where 0 and 1 indicate valve open and valve closed, respectively [167]. Reprinted with permission from the American Association for the Advancement of Science. [Pg.82]

Valving on a PDMS sheet has also been achieved after an elliptical hole was punched in the PDMS, and an elliptical needle was inserted in the hole. Then valve actuation was achieved by having the elliptical needle rotated for 90°, thus compressing the fluidic channel below for valve closure [1043]. A PDMS membrane was fitted on a glass wafer to create a valve. Three valves placed in series form a diaphragm pump [244]. [Pg.82]

Simple gas adsorption manometry. A simple modem set-up with three valves and a capacitance pressure transducer is shown in Figure 3.2. The dosing volume is within the central cross, i.e. in the connecting tubes between the valves and the pressure transducer. [Pg.54]

When the embryo and endosperm are being formed, the ovule enlarges and its integuments become modified to form a hard horny seed coat which encloses the endosperm surrounding the embryo. The ovary, containing the ovules, has by this time ripened to form a three-valved loculicidal capsule enclosing the seeds. [Pg.57]

Fig. 18 (a) Layout of the PCR-CE microsystem with integrated sample cleanup. Each of the four analyzers is composed of a three-valve pump for fluidic control, an RTD temperature sensor and integrated heater for thermal cycling, a 250-nL PCR reaction chamber, etched chambers for analyte capture and puriflcation, and pCE separation channels 5 cm in length, (b) Expanded view of the sidearm capture structure. A capture matrix made of 6.5% linear polyacrylamide (LPA) gel copolymerized with an oligonucleotide capture probe is manually loaded from the sidearm into the capture chamber, (c) Expanded view of the in-coIumn capture structure. An in-situ photopolymerized capture matrix made of 5% acrylamide/bis gel copolymerized with an oligonucleotide capture probe is polymerized in a capture zone (40 mm deep x 120 mm wide X 1 mm long) directly in-line with the separation channel. Figure 4.3 illustrates the flowsheet with level and pressure controllers. Therefore, three valves V-1, V-2, and V-3 have been connected to the flash vessel. As specifications we select adiabatic operation and outlet pressure of 39.5 bar. In dynamic simulation the pressure and temperature inside the vessel cannot be set. These variables will change because disturbances, but we can use controllers to keep them between desired limits. Valve V-2 controls the temperature, and valve V-3 the pressure. [Pg.123]

Filling of the test vessel was accomplished through 2-in. vacuum-jacketed transfer lines. Liquid nitrogen used for precooling and check-out was supplied from a 600-gal dewar liquid hydrogen was supplied from a 1500-gal dewar. Three valves provided control of liquid fill and dump and throttling during outflow. [Pg.257]

A major effort was required to remove all three valve and filter assemblies from the reactor for examination. These were the longest components in the reactor vessel, at 12 metres, and required considerable care in handling. Examination showed that at least one panel of each valve filter had failed, and oil-related debris was found on all the filters. A number of the fuel subassemblies which had showed outlet temperature rises during the incident were removed, and oil-related debris was found on their inlet filters and wrappers. [Pg.40]

The purification unit consists of three valve-tray columns. The production medium for AA in the purification stage at 130-200 °C contains up to 16% water, 26% methyl iodide, and other components, such as methyl acetate (MA), methanol (MeOH), hydrogen iodide (HI), formic acid (FA), and propionic acid (PA) (PEP Report, 1994). The fractionation column removes the light components and portions of water in the mixture, and the dehydration column treats both water and FA. The last column, which is an SSC, produces the final AA product from the side draw by cutting off the remaining light and heavy components from... [Pg.266]

When following this chart without an exception, the designer must use two transmitters for S1L2 and trip if either transmitter indicates a trip. When designing a S1L3 SIF without an exception, the designer must use three transmitters or three valves, each capable of performing the safety function. [Pg.106]

The 20% increase in feed flow resulted in the saturation of several control valves when the original design size was used (valves 50% open). The valve sizes were doubled to remove these limitations. The valves modified were V14 (LIGHTS from the preflash column), V25 (HNAPH), and V22 (AGO). The steady-state positions of these three valves are now about 25% open, as can be seen on the faceplates of the BChvynaph 95% boiling point controller, the PCI pressure controller in the preflash column, and the FCwash flow controller, which manipulates the AGO to hold constant the Stage 19 liquid flow rate (see Fig. 11.51). [Pg.354]

A three-valve configuration common in shut-off applications to prevent release of a gas or fluid to the area of isolation by providing a positive means of isolation. Two main shut-off valves (block valves) operate on the main process line to stop flow. A third bleed valve in a T-section between the two block valves fitted with a vent or drain can be opened to relieve pressure of the process fluid from the region between the two block valves. In this fashion, passing of the isolation valve on the active side will not allow entry into the isolated equipment. Typically considered as a one out of... [Pg.89]
