Later, US NDT TD set up the National Certification Committee of Ukraine on NDT, which had the aim of organising the personnel certification in keeping with EN 473, rendered assistance to State Standardisation Organisation of Ukraine in setting up the Technical Committee on Standardisation Technical Diagnostics and Non-Destructive Testing (TC-78), the aims of which are in tune with those of lSO/TC-135. 

For continuation of the work on standardisation in the field of NDT TD, Gosstandardt set up a Technical Committee on Standardisation Technical Diagnostics and Non-Destructive Testing (TC-78) This is a social organisation which unites the leading experts on TD NDT, and determines the priority areas of work, and qualified performers in the field of TD NDT Its main aim is unification of the standards of Ukraine with the European norms. 

Several countries have developed their own standard test methods for cellular plastics, and the International Organization for Standards (ISO) Technical Committee on Plastics TC-61 has been developing international standards. Information concerning the test methods for any particular country or the ISO procedures can be obtained in the United States from the American National Standards Institute. The most complete set of test procedures for cellular plastics, and the most used of any in the world, is that developed by the ASTM these procedures are pubUshed in new editions each year (128). Since 1994, the automotive industry in the USA and Europe has been operating quality system certification schemes that extended the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 10011, and EN 45012. One of these schemes was addressed by my QS-9000 Quality S /stems Handbook, published in 1996. In the same year the automakers of the USA and Europe formed the International Automotive Task Force (lATF) which, in cooperation with the technical committee of the International Organization of Standardization (TO 176), produced ISO/TS 16949. Use of and registration to this new standard is currently voluntary. It is intended that following the first revision to incorporate ISO 9000 2000, the ISO/TS 16949 certification scheme will be mandated by all major vehicle manufacturers on their Tier 1 suppliers. However, it is not always the case with certain types of modem boiler plant that the respective owners, operators, and technical committees can significantly benefit from working with a water treatment company. 

The conduct of clinical trials is regulated in all the countries, except Cypms. In Cypms, the policy of the Ministry of Health is not to permit clinical trials for experimental medical products. Multicountry clinical trials for products licensed in developed countries are undertaken in some institutions and regulated by ethics committees (Table 8.5). In these countries, approval of clinical trials is carried out either by the DRA, as in Estonia, Malaysia, Tunisia, Venezuela and Zimbabwe, or by ethics committees. We will also review the development of chemical metrology in the pharmaceutical industry, an industry that is ever more closely related to molecular biology. The pharmacists first developed quality protocols and reference materials more than 40 years ago, quite independently of the activities of ISO and the REMCO Technical Committee. Only in the closing years of the 20th Century have these two important groups begun to realize that they share common objectives. 

The Reference Materials Committee (REMCO) of ISO was established in 1976 and was initially known as REMPA. The aim of this committee is to carry out and encourage a broad international effort for the harmonization and promotion of CRMs and their production and applications. Dr. Day was a founding member of the Pesticide Handlers Exposure Database (PHED) Task Force, and was instrumental in the development of the database, which is now widely used in the field of pesticide worker exposure.
