Nature In some types of engineering and management-science problems, we may be concerned with a random variable which represents a proportion, for example, the proportional number of defective items per day. The method described previously relates to a single proportion. In this subsection two proportions will be considered. 

There are areas in the field of management science where it has not been easy or fruitful to produce theories of use in decision making. The complexity of the concepts and structures involved have so far presented investigators with great difficulties. Third, simple approaches constrain the relationship to be the same for all contexts. Jones and Sasser (1995) find that the customer satisfaction-customer loyalty relationship varies by industry, possibly because of differences in competitive environment.
