Stellaria media

For improving skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis, make a tea of elder with equal parts chickweed (Stellaria media), marshmallow root (.Althaea officinalis) and burdock root Arctium lappa). [Pg.59]

Sulfamoyl-2-chloroadenosine (121) from a strain of Streptomyces alhus possesses potent herbicidal activity on broad leaf weeds in post-emergent application (80 percent control on Sinapis alba, Stellaria media, Veronica persica, and Xanthium spinosum at <24 g/acre). Unfortunately, this compound also exhibits strong mammalian toxicity (LCso in mouse fibroblasts 0.013 pg/ml). Nucleocidin glucoside (122), a fluoronucleoside from a Streptomyces strain, is a weak herbicide [97]. [Pg.781]

Several derivatives of moniliformin were synthesized and patented. Swiss patent 609,836 was awarded to Fischer and Bellus (Ciba Geigy) in 1979. The cyclobutene-3, 4-diones, R-alkyl, substituted Ph, CH2CH2SEt, CH2CH CH2, etc. are herbicides and PGR s. Thus postemergence application of 4Kg 1-octyloxycyclobutene-3, 4-dione/ha controlled Setaria italica, Lolium perenne, Sinapis alba and Stellaria media more than did the standard moniliformin Na salt" (Chem. Abstracts. Vol 90 1979, Indent 90 1988 82p). [Pg.271]

It is a postemergence systemic herbicide, recommended for the control of some Poligonum spp., Galium aparine. Stellaria media, and Tussilago farfara weeds in cereal crops at a rate of 2.5 kg active ingredient/ha. It is generally used in combination with other herbicides (2,4-D MCPA 2,4,5-T mecoprop ioxynil bromoxynil, bentazon). [Pg.509]

Benazolin is a selective postemergence herbicide translocated in the phloem. Combined with phenoxy herbicides, such as MCPA and MCPB, 2,4-DB and 2,4-DP, it efficiently controls many broad-leaved weeds, particularly Stellaria media and Galium aparine, in undersown cereals and direct sown leys. Alone it is used against wild mustard, chickweed cleavers and oil seed rape at a rate of 0.9-2.S kg active ingredient/ha (Shafer and Stobbe, 1973a, Rea et al. 1976). Used in the form of its water-soluble sodium or potassium salt it is not adsorbed in the soil and is rapidly leached. [Pg.763]

Trials were made on seedlings of oil seed rape (Brassica napus), chick weed (Stellaria media), cleavers (Galium aparine), mayweed (Tripleurospermum maritimum) and spurry (Spergula arvensis), sprayed with chlorsulfuron at rates of... [Pg.776]
