ISOLATION AND STRUCTURES OF DITERPENOIDS FROM SCOPARIA DULCIS... [Pg.690]

Whole plants of Scoparia dulcis collected in Paraguay were extracted with 70% EtOH at boiling temperature. The extract was partitioned between CHC13 and H2O and the CHC13 soluble part was further fractionated by combination of column chromatography on silica gel and HPLC method using reversed phase ODS column. As a result, three types of diterpenoids were isolated, i.e., labdane-type scoparic acids A (SA, 1), B (SB, 2), and C (SC, 3), scopadulan-type scopadulcic acids A (SDA, 4) and B (SDB, 5), and aphidicolan-type scopadulin (SD, 6). On the other hand, scopadiol... [Pg.690]

Since Scoparia dulcis has been widely used for protection of the stomach or treatment of stomach troubles, we examined the inhibitory activity of SDB and SDC on gastric acid secretion and H+,K+-ATPase. As illustrated in Fig. (3), SDB and SDC dose dependently inhibited the histamine-induced acid secretion when isolated whole stomach preparations of mice were used for the experiments. The inhibitory potency of SDC was comparable to that of OPZ. [Pg.702]

Scoparia dulcis was found to be one of attractive natural resources producing unique bioactive diterpenoids. [Pg.723]
