Resistivity testing

The aim is to develop a real-time surveillance method to ensure the safety of tests such as resistance tests and re-testing of pressure vessels, based on measurement carried out using acoustic emission technology. [Pg.54]

The tables 3 and 4 give tire results of over-washing resistance tests. [Pg.622]

The removal tests show important variations between products which do not influence the results because all penetrant can be washed easily. Resistance test to over washing give an evaluation of the hanging up of the product on the pieee and because the washing is an operation realized by an operator for our applications, they permit to have a good idea on the influency of this operation on the end of the test one operator who washes too much a penetrant increases the probability to make the indications desappear. [Pg.625]

The largest volume of hydrauHc fluids are mineral oils containing additives to meet specific requirements. These fluids comprise over 80% of the world demand (ca 3.6 x 10 L (944 x 10 gal))- In contrast world demand for fire-resistant fluids is only about 5% of the total industrial fluid market. Fire-resistant fluids are classified as high water-base fluids, water-in-oil emulsions, glycols, and phosphate esters. Polyolesters having shear-stable mist suppressant also meet some fire-resistant tests. [Pg.262]

Water resistance test methods include AATCC 127 (hydrostatic pressure test), AATCC 42 (impact penetration test), and AATCC 35 (rain test). In the hydrostatic pressure test, a sample is subjected to a column of increasing water pressure until leakage occurs. The impact penetration test requires water to be sprayed on the taut surface of a fabric sample from a height of two feet. The fabric is backed by a blotter of predeterrnined weight, which is reweighed after water penetration. The rain test is similar in principle to the impact penetration test. [Pg.461]

Because of its high toughness and good thermal shock resistance, test results indicate the possibility of using square-, triangular-, and diamond-shaped tools of SiAlON for machining superaHoys in the intermediate speed range (ca 150 m /min) where only round tools are used currently with other ceramics. [Pg.214]

A d.c. insulation resistance test or polarization index reveals only the surface condition of the insulation and does not allow a realistic assessment of internal condition. Loss tangent values are true reflections of the insulation condition to detect moisture content, voids, cracks or general deterioration. The tan 5 versus test voltage curve may be drawn and compared with the original curve provided by the manufacturer, and inferences drawn regarding the condition of the insulation. The different starting tan lvalues will reveal the condition of the insulation in terms of amount of contamination, as noted in Table 10.4 (See lEE, Vol. 127, May 1980). [Pg.242]

Corrosion-resistance test This can be done with the help of a salt spray test. The test piece is suspended in a salt spray chamber (Figure A13.6) for. seven days in 100% relative humidity (IS 101 and IS 11864). After the test, the surface should have no signs of deterioration or corrosion. [Pg.409]

Information on ship resistance has been determined from large numbers of tests on scale models of ships and from full-size ships, and compilations of these experimental results have been published. For a new and innovative hull form the usual procedure is to construct a scale model of the ship and then to conduct resistance tests m a special test facility (towing tank). Alternatively, analytical methods can provide estimates of ship resistance for a range of different hull shapes. Computer programs have been written based on these theoretical analyses and have been used with success for many ship designs, including racing sailboats. [Pg.1043]

Vickers and Knoop indentors, Barcol hardness, and Shore durometers (2) (b) to measure the resistance of a material to scratching by another material or by a sharp point, such as the Bierbaum hardness or scratch-resistance test and the Moh one for hardness and (c) to measure rebound efficiency or resilience, such as the various Rockwell hardness tests. The various tests provide different behavior characteristics for plastics, as described by different ASTM standards such as D 785. The ASTM and other sources provide different degrees of comparison for some of these tests. [Pg.315]

The costs of an intervention have to be compared with the results of this intervention (Drummond et al. 2004). These results can be outputs, outcomes, and impacts (Fig. 2). An output is the direct result of a production process. Agents of production (resources) are transformed to generate a certain commodity or service (output). For instance, equipment, reagents, and the knowledge of a laboratory technician are used to perform a certain resistance test. Other examples of outputs are contacts, admissions, or prescriptions. [Pg.351]
