This procedure is called chloromethylation and will not only turn 1,3-benzodioxole into a methyl chloride but will work equally well in converting plain old benzene into benzyl chloride. Both are important stepping stones towards the production of X and meth. For example, benzyl chloride is a schedule I controlled substance because it will beget benzaldehyde and phenylacetonitrile (a precursor for phenylacetic acid). 

GHB has been used both for legitimate clinical and chnical research purposes and for a range of iUicit purposes. It was marketed legally in the United States until 1990, when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned its sale to consumers. Except for the one indication described later in this section, GHB is a Schedule I controlled substance without other FDA-approved indications. All of the major manufacturing and exporting countries have continued to provide comprehensive information on exports of substances in Tables I and II of the 1988 Convention. For 2003, Brazil has resumed reporting on exports of scheduled substances, notably potassium permanganate. As noted in paragraph 21 above, Canada and China, major traders in precursor chemicals, are now reporting their exports to the Board. 

Schedule II includes direct precursor chemicals which must be monitored and recorded. 

Except where control is required by United States obligations under an international treaty, convention, or protocol, in effect on October 27, 1970, and except in the case of an immediate precursor, a drug or other substance may not be placed in any schedule unless the findings required for such schedule are made with respect to such drug or other substance. The cure cycle is the temperature vs time schedule used to polymerize the thermoset precursors. The selection of an adequate cure cycle has several purposes. Schedule I, which is the same as for heroin, LSD, and marijuana, states that the drug has no medical use and cannot be prescribed, and that the drug has a high potential for abuse.
