Bibliographic resources is a general term for catalogs, indexes, bibliographies, and other guides that identify the books, periodical articles, and other printed resources that deal with a particular subject. They are essential tools for the researcher. 

Bibliographies in various forms provide a convenient way to find books, periodical articles, and other materials. Most book-length bibliographies published before the 1990s are not very useful because there has been an explosion of materials published on this topic during the past decade.

The chemistry literature has experienced exponential growth over the last decade or two and the literature of heterocyclic chemistry, like all other areas of chemistry, has experienced an enormous expansion, making it very difficult to keep up with the research reported in this field. Therefore, the review literature has become increasingly important to researchers and teachers who are trying to keep abreast of this field. Hence in this treatise an attempt is made to list all review books, chapters in books and periodical articles published between 1940 and 1982 which deal with heterocyclic chemistry. It is the belief of the Editorial Board that such a policy will assist scholars whose research endeavors take them into the heterocyclic arena. 

Regarding my personal qualifications, I wish to state that I was a member of the Militargeschichtliche Forschungsamt (Military History Research Department) in Freiburg from 1960 to 1995. For almost three decades, my work has focused exclusively on matters related to the German-Soviet war. Through the publication of academic books and periodical articles on this topic I am well established as an expert in my field, both at home and abroad. Accredited chemist Rudolf and the co-authors of the anthology at issue are not personally known to me. 

In addition to case studies, a course journal has also been an effective tool. Students were asked to complete problems related to basic chemistry topics and internet resources in the journal. For example, end-of-chapter problems in the textbook12 were often assigned and completed in the journal. Students were also asked to record comments and questions related to course materials and to maintain a project log. Specifically, journal entries included responses to and analysis of internet resources, responses to and analysis of lecture material, critical responses to periodical articles and government documents, project ideas, and project progress including data, interviews, and event logs. The journals were collected at least one time during the quarter and at the end of the quarter. 

An organization or a committee may be the author of a book or periodical article. Acronyms for very well known organizations may be used. It is not necessary to repeat the publisher s name for a work compiled by the organization that published it. 

There are several types of periodicals online, including those based on print editions, electronic copies retrieved from databases, articles released online in advance of a lull print issue, periodicals published only in electronic format, and article preprints posted in preprint servers. The reference styles for periodicals apply, with additional information concerning online location and accession date assigned as needed. As for print periodicals, article titles are desirable but not included in all ACS publications check the publication itself. 

Indexes or abstract publications may be used to determine the document desired. A very comprehensive bibliography on New Guides and Aids to Public Documents Use has been prepared by Jerome K. Wilcox, hbrarian of the College of the City of New York, and a well-known authority on this subject ( ). A list of books and periodical articles relating to the use of government documents, supplementing the material found in the Wilcox bibliography, was prepared recently by Spencer C. Stanford, head of the Research Library at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Certain emission reductions obtained as early as in the year 2000 may be used to assist in achieving compliance in the first commitment period (Article 12, Paragraph 10 of the Kyoto Protocol). 

Bibliographies and guides to literature can provide shortcuts and, most often, include books and periodical articles that have been selected by subject specialists. Publications in the area of architectural engineering are limited, especially ones of a broad or generalized scope. Researchers should consult bibliographies from appropriate monographs on specific topics, e.g., exterior wall design. 

When making a literature search a great deal of time can be saved if a bibliography on the subject can be discovered. This will list either books or periodical articles or both on the subject up to a given date and may be partly or fully comprehensive and may have important annotations. 

Considerable difficulty is often experienced in tracing references to periodical articles because of some inaccuracy in the title quoted, the volume number, or the year. Assistance in this matter can be obtained from several lists of chemical or general scientific journals. 

Owing to the delay incurred in issuing abstracts and particularly their indexes, a number of publications have been started in recent years which aim at the speediest possible publication of titles only of periodical articles as a current awareness service. 

Up to now there has not been much material developed on the subject of warehouse safety. Periodic articles discuss safe procedures for lift trucks, lifting, pallet safety, fire safety, and racking. However, on the whole, warehouse safety has not been a major focus of any publication or organization. Moreover, seminars on warehouse operations frequently omit the subject of safety. Even at safety conferences, seminars and specialty sessions rarely address the topic of overall warehouse safety.
