The Internet, for many professionals, has become a favorite, convenient source for free information. The Internet is a vehicle to access a diverse array of information sources, including federal and state government documents and regulations, statements, opinions and guidelines from associations and organizations, and pharmaceutical industry documents. While the Internet is indeed powerful, it is a retrieval mechanism and the WWW site itself is the resource to be considered for relevance to the current search. The convenience of WWW resources can be quickly overshadowed by the time invested in the search and following linkages.

This paper examines President Kennedy s final ten months in the White House before his assassination. It places particular emphasis on the security policies and procedures of his White House staff and questions whether any specific, additional measures could have been taken to avoid his fatal trip to Dallas. Using primary source material such as speeches from Kennedy himself, official government documentation taken from the agencies of the CIA and FBI, and excerpts from interviews of key White House officials, this paper questions whether alternative security measures could have been in place. It concludes, however, that any additional procedures would not have altered historical events and that Lee Harvey Oswald was not detected as a threat to national security until it was too late.

In addition to case studies, a course journal has also been an effective tool. Students were asked to complete problems related to basic chemistry topics and internet resources in the journal. For example, end-of-chapter problems in the textbook12 were often assigned and completed in the journal. Students were also asked to record comments and questions related to course materials and to maintain a project log.
