Specialized equipment for industrial measurements and automatic control have been developed (18) (see Process control). In general, the pH of an industrial process need not be controlled with great accuracy. Consequendy, frequent standardization of the cell assembly may be uimecessary. On the other hand, the ambient conditions, eg, temperature and humidity, under which the industrial control measurements are made, may be such that the pH meter must be much more robust than those intended for laboratory use. Duration of sorption processes in a couple of modular design sorbers is lower, than in a couple of monoblock design sorbers. The majority of AOTs can be applied to the remediation and detoxification of low or medium volumes of waters. Dr. Honie (41) produces two basic units which are shown in Figure 31, the Sol 2, (A) Compact Solar Simulator, table-top series and Sol 500, (B), stand-alone modular units. Both units are powered by the company s proprietary, iron-based, air-cooled, metal-halide lamps.
