Combustion modular unit

The economics of modular incinerators was developed for a hypothetical location burning refuse typical of Naval installations. The modular units were assumed to be typical two-stage combustion devices. It was assumed that some source separation would be practiced to remove most of the glass and bulky items. [Pg.79]

In the United States, laws passed since the late 1970s have encouraged the development of cogeneration plants and independent power plants developed by nonutiHty power producers. Combustion-turbine-based faciHties have become extremely popular among nonutiHty power plant developers. Among the many reasons for selecting this technology is the abiHty to develop compact, modular, combustion-turbine-based power plants within one or two years. [Pg.2]

Types of Combustors The three main classes of facilities used to combust municipal refuse are mass burn, modular, and RDF-fired facilities. Mass-burn combustors are field erected and generally range in size from 50 to 1000 tons/day of refuse feed per unit (Fig. 25-64). Modular combustors burn waste with little more pre-... [Pg.2243]

In the early 1960s, a new, intrinsically simple type of incinerator started gaining in popularity as pubhc attention focused on air pollution from waste burning. The modular combustion unit (MCU) has become an economical and efficient system for on-site and central destmction... [Pg.155]

A limited export steam plant is defined as a plant that makes some export steam but significantly less than the maximum. This is typically achieved by adding a combustion air preheat unit (CAP). This unit consists of a modular heat exchanger that heats the combustion air to the SMR by heat exchange with the flue gas from the SMR. The hot combustion air reduces the fuel requirement for the SMR, which in turn reduces the steam production. [Pg.327]
