United module

The scanner has been constructed in modules which, for future applications, makes it easy to increase the length of the scanner for inspection of larger blades, by adding further modules to the system. In co-operation with LM Glasfiber and RIS0 it was decided to construct the first scatmer for inspection of blades with a length of max. 21m. In order to be able to scan primarily the bonded areas from the root to the tip of the rotor blade, a so-called X-unit module was constructed. The movement from the root to the tip of the blade was controlled by the P-scan system. [Pg.982]

Since it was required by LM Glasfiber that the scanner should be able to inspect joints between the shells and the iimer beams on each side and also the joints between the shells on the leading and trailing edge of the rotor blades, the X-Unit module was designed with three different set-ups for the Y-modules, which perform the movement of the probes transverse the length of the blade. The three different set-ups of the Y-modules are ... [Pg.982]

Air- or dry-laid pulp machinery can be envisioned as a series of forming-unit modules. Each module consists of two to four perforated dmms through which airborne fibers are circulated and further agitated by mechanical beaters placed in close proximity to the inner dmm surfaces. As the fibers... [Pg.151]

A small-scale PROX system was manufactured in a type of heat exchanger using non-pellet catalyst. Pt-Ru catalyst screened was impregnated on the support sheet. The support sheet was made by coating y-AlaOs on porous SUS-mesh plate (thickness 1.0 mm). The surface area of the catalyst sheet was 96 mVg. The catalyst sheet was applied to a heat exchanger type reactor of PROX as shown in Fig. 2. The PROX reactor was manufactured as a unit module and tested. Fig. 3 is the test-set of the PROX. Air was applied as the coolant. [Pg.626]

Firstly, if revalidation is necessary, to what extent is it required to test a software unit, module, or the whole system There may even be instances where no revalidation would be necessary after a change. However, the decision must be documented together with the rationale for it. [Pg.497]

The interconnections between the unit modules may represent information flow as well as material and energy flow. In the mathematical representation of the plant, the interconnection equations are the material and energy balance flows between model subsystems. Equations for models such as mixing, reaction, heat exchange, and so on, must also be listed so that they can be entered into the computer code used to solve the equation. Table 5.1 lists the common type of equations that might be used for a single subsystem. In general, similar process units repeatedly occur in a plant and can be represented by the same set of equations, which differ only in the names of variables, the number of terms in the summations, and the values of any coefficients in the equations. [Pg.554]

When discussing membrane preparation, not only must the physical structure be considered, but one must also consider the membrane form or shape. In an effort to combat concentration polarization and membrane fouling and to maximize the membrane surface area per unit module volume, membranes are produced in the form of flat sheets (used either In plate-and-frame or spiral wound modules), supported and unsupported tubes, and hollou fibers. Although much of the technology associated with membrane development and membrane production Is closely guarded as proprietary Information, some of the details are beginning to appear in the literature (6,9-13,16-20). [Pg.9]

As with type I PKSs, NRPSs are built of repetitive catalytic units (modules), which are each responsible for the incorporation of one amino acid into the growing peptide chain. Although different chemistries are employed for activation and condensation of the substrates, the basic steps of NRPS chain elongation show striking similarities to the type I PKS mechanisms (1) recognition of the amino acid substrate and its activation as an aminoacyl adenylate (2) covalent binding of the residue as a thioester to a carrier protein and (3) condensation with the peptidyl residue attached to the upstream module. Consequently, a typical NRPS elongation module minimally comprises an adenylation (A) domain responsible for amino acid activation, a thiolation (T) domain (also known as a peptidyl-carrier protein (PCP)) to which the activated amino acid is covalently attached, and a condensation (C) domain, which catalyzes peptide bond formation. As in PKSs, a variety of optional domains, for example, MTs or epimerization (E) domains, further increase the structural... [Pg.201]

The Pr70i2 phase is the most reduced phase in the homologous series of the praseodymium oxides. The seven fluorite-type modules that compose the structure of the Pr70i2 phase contain one W and six U and V unit modules. The meaning of these symbols will be given in 3.2.4. As this is oxidized to the Pt90i6 phase the module W disappears, and an F module has replaced it. Using the modular formula to write the above reaction, it will be ... [Pg.6]

The most important applications of hollow-fiber modules are in hemodialysis (Figure 5.70), reverse osmosis, and gas separation units. Modules up to 50 cm diameter containing hundreds of thousands of fibers are used in gas separation. [Pg.655]

Modularization in enterprise leads, thus, to the disaggregation of the traditional form of hierarchical governance. The enterprise is decomposed into relatively small autonomous organizational units (modules) to reduce complexity and to integrate strongly interdependent tasks while the interdependencies between the modules are weak. The dissemination of modular organizational forms yields a strong process... [Pg.391]
