Label checking

Contamination is controlled at multiple levels in a pharmaceutical plant. It starts with a clean, well-maintained facility. Raw materials are labeled, checked, and segregated at storage. Equipment is cleaned and tested for cleanliness prior to being used. Personnel are to follow procedures as written in SOPs. Samples and products are clearly labeled and stored. Flows of materials, equipment, personnel, tools, and wastes are controlled. [Pg.317]

These investigators and inspectors visit more than 15,000 facilities a year, seeing that products are made correctly and labeled truthfully. As part of their inspections, they collect about 80,000 domestic and imported product samples for examination by FDA scientists or for label checks. If a company is found violating any of the laws that FDA enforces, FDA can encourage the firm to correct the problem voluntarily or to recall a faulty product from the market. A recall is generally the fastest and most effective way to protect the public from an unsafe product. [Pg.394]

These identify the contents of rows and columns. They are text characters, and cannot be used in calculations. Separate them from the data cells by drawing lines, if this feature is available. Programs make assumptions about the nature of the entry being made most assume that if the first character is a number, then the entry is a number or formula. If it is a letter, then it will be a label. If you want to start a label with a number, you must override this assumption by typing a designated character before the number to tell the program that this is a label check your program manual for details. [Pg.308]

Knowledge, equipment, and procedures needed to work safely with hazardous chemicals in the lab. Detecting chemical releases in the work area, physical and health hazards, chemical forms, routes of entry, personal protective equipment and clothing, emergency response, label checking, MSDSs, and environmental and medical monitoring. [Pg.173]

Always read the label, check the SDS, and follow established facility procedures. Even a small amount of some chemicals when left in a container can pose danger. Dispose of aU waste containers according to required procedures. Wastes can react with one another and bum, release toxic vapors, or explode (Table 7.15). [Pg.178]

Verify that the required label specifications are met for all displayed labels. Check Packaging Compliance... [Pg.543]

Specification tests are performed on plant streams once or twice per worker shift, or even more often if necessary, to assure the continuing quahty of the product. The tests are also performed on a sample from an outgoing shipment, and a sample of the shipment is usually retained for checking on possible subsequent contamination. Tests on specialty types of acetone may require sophisticated instmments, eg, mass spectrometry for isotopicaHy labeled acetone. [Pg.98]

Vehicle manufacturers must build cars and tmcks that operate well on available fuels. They also specify the fuel requirements of their vehicles. Euel marketers must produce fuels that operate in both new and old vehicles. The consumer, the purchaser of the fuel and the vehicle, wants the fuel to be affordable, readily available, and able to provide a high level of performance. Regulators check that fuels are labeled properly and meaninghilly and that no unwarranted claims are made. They also regulate emissions from vehicles as well as the fuels used. [Pg.178]

Material should be purchased in several small containers rather than one large container and always stored in original containers. Integrity of the labels should be checked. [Pg.245]

Wherever practicable, store radioactive substances in sealed, properly labelled containers. Check for leaks periodically (e.g. [Pg.395]

A mechanic was instructed to fit a steam supply at a gauge pressure of 200 psi to a process line in order to clear a blockage. By mistake, a steam supply at a gauge pressure of 40 psi was connected. Neither supply was labeled the 40 prsi supply was not fitted with a check valve resulting in backflow of process material into the steam supply line. Later the. steam supply caught fire when used to disperse a small leak. [Pg.169]

Radioactively labelled compounds have been employed in biology for the clarification of metabolic processes since the mid-1940s It has, thus, been necessary to prepare such substances and to check on their punty... [Pg.40]

Knowing when the instrument s accuracy was last checked so that you can have confidence in its results - calibration records and labels fulfill this need. [Pg.401]

If the rejection was for cosmetic reasons, there is no problem but if the rejection was an out-of-tolerance condition the product should either be reworked, repaired, or regraded because the original decision may not be acceptable to all customers. If you do not do these things, the internal concessions should be carried through to the final inspection label, so that if a customer requires products to a particular specification you can check whether the out-of-tolerance condition will be acceptable. [Pg.428]

Marking products has its limitations as it may damage the product, be removed, or deteriorate during subsequent processing. If applied directly to the product, the location and nature of identification should be specified in the product drawings or referenced process specifications. If applied to labels which themselves are permanently secured to the product, the identification needs to be visible when the product is installed so as to facilitate checks without its removal. [Pg.429]

Documentation checks are vital at this stage since you are being judged on your on-time shipment performance. A delay caused by an error in the ASN will jeopardize all your hard work to meet the shipment date. The system that prints the container labels should therefore use the same data that is entered onto the ASN in order to avoid error. Eliminate human transcription errors and you are halfway there. The only other action is making sure that what s in the box is what it says on the label. [Pg.488]

Labels (see Chapter 4) are a sort of protective equipment. They vanish with remarkable speed, and regular checks should be made to make sure they are still there. [Pg.277]
