Error avoidance

In computational fluid dynamics only the last two methods have been extensively implemented into commercial flow solvers. Especially for CFD problems the FVM has proven robust and stable, and as a conservative discretization scheme it has some built-in mechanism of error avoidance. For this reason, many of the leading commercially available CFD tools, such as CFX4/5, Fluent and Star-CD, are based on the FVM. The oufline on CFD given in this book wiU be based on this method however, certain parts of the discussion also apply to the other two methods. [Pg.149]

Medication error information submitted to USP is entered into a nationally recognized repository for medication error reporting. This database serves to track, monitor, and analyze medication errors from a systems-based perspective. The USP develops educational resources and materials to disseminate best practice solutions and error-avoidance strategies to students and practitioners. [Pg.149]

Some observers results seem more liable to these large errors than others, due, perhaps, to carelessness, or lapses of attention. Thomson and Tait, I presume, would call the abnormally large errors avoidable mistakes . [Pg.515]

Most applications depend on the understanding of the limitations of the detection principles and of the equipment used, which helps to avoid trivial errors. For this reason, after a short introduction to the theoretical fundamentals, different types of instrumentation are compared with respect to sample handling and error avoidance. Besides absorption, the suitability of fluorescence, reflectance, and interferometry are demonstrated. Some new applications by use of fiber optics and diode array technology are given. Measurements in turbid solution are introduced and a few clinical examples are mentioned. Finally, principles of multicomponent analysis are discussed. [Pg.64]

Error detection mechanisms were found to share much in common with the strategies identified above for error avoidance, as effective error detection depends to a large degree on maintaining situation awareness. However, aside from a focus on situation awareness, the interview data suggest that effective error detection also includes a range of multi-crew coordination factors, as well as unique attitudinal factors. A total of nine components of error detection were identified, under three broad categories. [Pg.172]

This study has provided a detailed account of error management, through the analysis of experts imderstanding of error avoidance, detechon and resolution. From the results of this study, it is evident that elements of error management share much in conunon with our current understanding of Crew Resource Management (CRM). [Pg.173]

The median informative feedback results are presented in Figure 11.5. The system is providing adequate levels of feedback but performs poorly for error avoidance and shortcut clarity. Participant comments indicate that successful operation is more heavily dependent on operator knowledge than system feedback. [Pg.284]
