P.R.3 is used primarily in air drying paints. Its hue varies considerably with the particle size, therefore pigment manufacturers usually offer a range of brands. The products with coarser particle sizes are bluer. Very bluish varieties, however, partially contain chemically modified P.R.3. [Pg.278]

There are different ways of processing the effluent of a pressure relief [35], One is atmospheric discharge, which is rare as only harmless effluents can be so used. The second is flaring or incineration, which is only sparsely available in fine chemicals or pharmaceutical industries. Total containment is another approach, but it requires pressure resistant equipment (see Section 10.5.2). Thus, the most used is partial containment... [Pg.256]

The adjacent step represented by values of 20-21 kcal/mole leads to the assumption that the first molecules of ammonia are adsorbed at the 4 Ca " cations in the cage. This is shown by measurements of the adsorption of ammonia in several NaX zeolites partially containing tran-... [Pg.134]

Kinetics for a Norwegian birch and a Danish beech have been determined, Apart from their origin there are also other differences between the woods. The beech sample is first received as wood chips whose surface has been exposed to the ambient and that partially contains bark. The birch sample comes from a wood log that has been cut into small cubes of Ixlxlcm, removing the bark. The proximate and ultimate analysis is shown in Table 1 and the ash analysis in Table 2. [Pg.36]

Polyolefins can be chemically modified with the purpose of changing some of their properties. For example, polyethylene can be chlorinated or chlorosulfonated. Chlorosulfonation can be done with a mixture of chlorine and sulfur dioxide, leading to a material partially chlorinated and partially containing sulfonyl chloride groups. This treatment imparts elastomer character and the capability to be crosslinked, for example, with metallic oxides. [Pg.296]

The information on the reaction that can be drawn from the two studies we are comparing partially concerns the same points, on which there is a reasonable agreement and partially contains features which are not considered in both approaches. Hence there is a considerable complementarity between the two approaches. Other comments are left to the reader. [Pg.91]

This structure of the lattices reflects the remarkable fact that the properties of the system as a whole in the case of conjugated odd numbered monocyclic rings as well as in the case of condensed aromatics are not deducible by addition of the properties of the extreme Kekuli structures, since each of these lusting structures partially contains others. [Pg.111]

It is partially contained in the technical blue oxide and acts in pure form as an important catalyst in industrial chemical syntheses (see Chapter 10). Similar to WO2.72, it catalyzes the decomposition of N2O and the selective oxidation of propene oxygen mixtures to acroleine. [Pg.149]

With the exception of the lowest x and y. (NH4)q,06WO3-(H20)o.n> which is tetragonal, they belong to the hexagonal system. The dominance of the hexagonal symmetry can be understood as a consequence of the large size of the ammonium ion. They are partially contained in the industrial tungsten blue oxide, especially at low APT decomposition temperatures or short exposure times. [Pg.164]

Currently, all these UI aspects are not explicitly defined. The determinations of the external tool properties are partially contained in the refined document contents model on layer 3. The link presentation is fixed for all integrators. The behavior of the integrator can be adapted within a certain range. This feature is currently realized by the tool builder during the implementation of an integrator. Hence, all these aspects are only implicitly handled by the tool builder. [Pg.618]

The effects of Work First are directed towards two main goals first, the prevention of entry into the welfare system, and second, the return to the labour market of the participants. Combining these effects will thus have a positive impact on the number of welfare claimants who will return to the labour market due to Work First. Nevertheless, Work First spurred some heated debates in the Netherlands since its introduction, mainly concerning its preventive effect. Many questions were raised concerning those individuals who chose not to make a welfare claim due to their obligatory participation in a Work First programme. However, these concerns were partially contained by the inclusion of employability services in the projects, so that projects would not only focus on the threat-effects they create, but also on their positive incentives side. [Pg.168]

Open burning/open detonation (OB/OD) has been the traditional method of disposing of unstable munitions, including chemical munitions, but OB/OD is no longer considered acceptable for NSCWM by regulators except in emergencies. The Army has been exploring an alternative to OB/OD called the tent-and-foam system, which provides for partially contained detonation of unstable munitions. [Pg.22]

The Integrated Ballistic Tent and Foam System (hereinafter called the tent-and-foam system) allows partially contained blow-in-place disposal of chemical mnnitions (as large as 8-inch projectiles) that cannot be inserted into a mobile disposal system (e.g., the EDS) or transported to a disposal facility because they are badly deteriorated or are extremely susceptible to accidental detonation. The inability to safely move the chemical munition is expected to be rare but very problematic. [Pg.60]

Public concerns about the tent-and-foam system are likely to be similar to those about OD. However, the fact that the blast is partially contained and that the foam and the air pollution control system are expected to neutralize or capture much of the agent that survives the initial blast may make the tent-and-foam system a more attractive option. [Pg.61]

Burgoyne discusses containment of a runaway reaction mass and suggests partial containment as a possibility. Here the mass is discharged from the reactor to a closed vessel for disposal later. Particulate solids are allowed to settle, while any gas is flared off or scrubbed. Several reactors can share a common disposal vessel provided that their contents are not incompatible. The same author presents a decision tree (Figure 6.5) for selecting a method of containment or venting. [Pg.125]

Animal work with viral agents that require Biosafety Level4 secondary containment, and forwhich highly effective vaccines are available and used, may be conducted with partial containment cages and without the one-piece positive pressure personnel suit if the facility has been decontaminated,no concurrent experiments are being done in the facihty which require Biosafety Level 4 primary and secondary containment, and all other standard and special practices are followed. [Pg.646]

Indoor ranges typically have specially constracted back walls or birllet traps, roofs, and side walls. Outdoor ranges may have concrete tubes to prevent stray shots (such as 10-m machine gun ranges), may lack a backstop to allow roimds to travel to their maximum range, or may be designed as fully or partially contained ranges (combination of side walls, bullet trap, canopy baffle, and... [Pg.12]

The practical approach to containment should be defense in depth, so a spill tray suitably lined with absorbent paper on a bench of suitable design and construction (raised edges/stainless steel or laminate) in a designated area would be suitable for very small quantities of nonvolatile material. As the activity and volatility of the material increase, the tray should be itself held within the partial containment provided by a ventilated fume cupboard or slit box. (The linear flow rate through any working aperture of a ventilated enclosure should be at least 0.5 m sec for nonvolatile materials and at least 0.75 m sec for volatiles such as iodine.) If there is an external radiation hazard as well as the potential for contamination, then appropriate shielding must be used but care should be taken not to disturb the enclosure air flows. (Checks should be made with a smoke generator if there is any doubt.)... [Pg.475]

The number of partial containers in use at any one time in the molding operation should be minimized. [Pg.218]

Where only partial containment is possible, should any leakage or escape occur that would expose workpeople to concentrations above the OES then PPE should be provided - if the concentration exceeds the MEL the PPE must be provided and worn and a re-assessment of risk prevention measures carried out. [Pg.685]

There are important points to pay attention to when one discusses the PI film coloration. The color of PI films is very sensitive not only to the monomer structures but also to processing factors such as kinds of solvent, monomer purity, atmosphere, and cure conditions [41,42]. The use of NMP as a solvent for PAA polymerization tends to form more intensely colored PI films than when DMAc and DMF are used, probably relating to a trace of oxidized residual solvent. Even if extra-pure reagent grade of diamines were used, a trace amount of some oxidized impurities contained in diamines lead to the occasionally severe coloration of the resultant PAA and Pis. A semi-aromatic PI derived from s-BPDA and an aliphatic diamine, rawy-l,4-cyclohexanediamine ( -CHDA), in spite of a CT-inhibited PI, provides a colored film owing to some brown oily impurity partially contained in the commercial /-CHDA. But, a completely colorless s-BPDA- -CHDA PI film can be obtained through careful purification of /-CHDA... [Pg.8]
