Semiflexible molded polyurethane foams are used in other automotive applications, such as instrument panels, dashboards, arm rests, head rests, door liners, and vibrational control devices. An important property of semiflexible foam is low resiliency and low elasticity, which results in a slow rate of recovery after deflection. The isocyanate used in the manufacture of semiflexible foams is PMDI, sometimes used in combination with TDI or TDl prepolymers. Both polyester as well as polyether polyols are used in the production of these water-blown foams...

Think of the pump curve like the dashboard or control panel of a car. No one would operate a car without the dash instrumentation panel. 

In GM s Hy-wire hydrogen powered concept vehicle, there is a fuel cell for the power source and electronics replace mechanical parts in the steering and braking systems. The driver looks through a large, sloped windshield that covers space usually taken up by an engine. There is no dashboard, instrument panel, steering wheel or pedals, only a set of adjustable footrests.

Magnesium is another material that has increased in use. One large application for magnesium in automobiles has been the instrument panel for GM s full-sized car and full-sized van that consists of a one-piece die casting that provides the entire structure of the front dashboard.

There is a lot of competition among plastics manufacturers for car interior components although, however, this area is not expected to show much growth [26,27]. ABS plastics continue to dominate the instrument panel market, while newer materials like Dow Chemical s pulse PC/ABS and Bayer s Bayblend PC/ABS alloys have been introduced for use in dashboard housings, interior mirror surrounds, and steering column covers. The alloy s high heat stability allows pigmentation in pastel colors. 

For example, many components in front of the driver can be appraised the dashboard, the steering wheel, the instrument panel, the windscreen. The dashboard has its own sensory characteristics (shape, materials, acoustics), but it is also made up of several elements that can be considered separately with their own sensory properties the radio buttons, the ventilation, the headlights, the vent slots, the speakers, etc. 

ABS/PC blends are used in a variety of automotive components such as instrument panels, flaps for glove compartments, dashboards, cladding for steering wheel columns, ventilation ports, spoilers, wheel covers, and protective side trims. Flame-retardant ABS/PC blends are used in office equipment and business machine housings. Chlorine or bromine-free flame-retardant ABS/PC compositions contain organophosphate/PTFE powder dispersions (Freitag et al. 1991). ABS/PC blends have been used in automotive exterior body panels first in the GM s former Saturn... 

Vibration welding is nsed extensively by the automotive industry in the manufacture of components snch as car bumpers, air intake manifolds, fuel pumps, instrument panels, parcel shelves, inner door panels and for the hermetic sealing of air ducting to the internal surface of the dashboard. Other applications include spectacle frames, typewriter covers, filter housings, motor saw housings and heating valves. 

Nordel IP is used as a modifier in ETP/TPO skins for dashboard/instrument panels and interior trim skins.
