Water-borne adhesives are preferred because of restrictions on the use of solvents. Low viscosity prepolymers are emulsified in water, followed by chain extension with water-soluble glycols or diamines. As cross-linker PMDI can be used, which has a shelf life of 5 to 6 h in water. Water-borne polyurethane coatings are used for vacuum forming of PVC sheeting to ABS shells in automotive interior door panels, for the lamination of ABS/PVC film to treated polypropylene foam for use in automotive instmment panels, as metal primers for steering wheels, in flexible packaging lamination, as shoe sole adhesive, and as tie coats for polyurethane-coated fabrics. PMDI is also used as a binder for reconstituted wood products and as a foundry core binder. 

Two-component waterborne urethanes are the preferred choice to replace solvent-borne urethane adhesives, especially in the packaging and shoe industries. At this time, the packaging area is the largest application of two-part waterborne urethanes. Good strides have been made by the two-part waterborne urethanes in the shoe industry, especially in the athletic shoe market. Waterborne urethanes are also replacing the solvent-borne products in the OEM door panels.

Thus, phenol and phenol-resorcinol modified resins can be replaced by a low-cost bark product. This use of bark would be a profitable outlet for bark residues and could lead to virtual independence of the wood particleboard industry from the petrochemical industry. 

Stretchable garments usually contain no more than 20% to 25% spandex.The elastic fiber can be blended with many other fibers, including cotton, wool, silk, or synthetics to produce the final fabric. Spandex continues to find new uses, including door panels for automobiles, upholstered furniture, and more comfortable leather shoes. 

Many plywood panels are 6 millimeters (1/4 inch) thick the thinnest measure about 1 millimeter, and the thickest several centimeters. In addition to house sheathing and siding, much plywood is used in cabinets, billboards, furniture, bookshelves, concrete forms, skins of flush doors, paneling, boxes, in mobile homes, and for trailers. In 2001, 305 X 103 m3 of plywood were produced in the United States. 

A major application of these types of molded products would be for interior uses in automobiles, such as head liners, door panels, and dashboards. Although this is a low-cost, low-performance application, it represents a very laige-volume market. Indeed, wood is already utilized in applications of this type, but as a finely ground flour that serves as a filler (up to 40%) in extrusion-molded polyolefin products. The use of recycled fiber in this process and the one described above offers the potential of even greater cost reductions, combined with alleviation of solid waste disposable problems.

Angle irons, both on the door panel as well as on the door frame, all around, give the entire door construction more stiffness and precision of measurement. 

The felt used as gasketing material is not sufficiently elastic to compensate for warping of the door panel. This goes all the more for the strapped side of the door panel because here it is not possible to compensate by pressing on, since... 

The number of bolts is too small to fix the door panel uniformly, and there are no parts that would allow for uniform sealing pressure on the one hand and prevent distortions on the other.
