Field sampling plan

Suggested Format for the Sampling and Analysis Plan (Comprising the Field Sampling Plan and Quality Assurance Project Plan)... [Pg.599]

QA, quality assurance RI, remedial investigation FS, feasibility study SAP, sampling and analysis plan FSP, field sampling plan QAPP, quality assurance project plan OSHA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration. [Pg.600]

The information contained in Groups A, B, C, and D can be logically broken down into two distinctive parts that describe the field and analytical laboratory objectives, with each part presented in a separate document. The elements that address field activities are removed from the QAPP and segregated into a document that is called Field Sampling Plan (FSP). The two documents, the FSP and the QAPP, constitute the Sampling and Analysis Plan. A short introduction to the SAP may describe the purpose of its two parts and tie them together under a single cover. [Pg.80]

The field phase of an LSMBS is critically important. Close monitoring of shoppers by field phase study management personnel is required, especially when a sampling plan includes frequent collections, such as weekly or bimonthly. Missed, delayed, or deficient commodity samples can throw a laboratory off schedule, which in turn can adversely affect both the timeliness and the quality of the analyses. Missed, delayed, or deficient samples can also affect the study outcome and interpretation, because a statistical design typically requires a certain number of data points, each represented by analysis of a commodity sample. [Pg.240]

The Facility Closure Plan includes two sampling and analysis plans. The first, Sampling and Analysis Plan for HWMU Closure (Appendix 2 in the Plan), includes requirements and procedures for conducting field sampling operations and investigations of soils and structures associated with the MDB and the HWMUs, as well as data quality objectives and field sampling protocols that could be used to verify decontamination (U.S. Army, 2000a). [Pg.40]

Routine or field laboratories involved in the ANP are controlled in each Member State by at least one National Reference Laboratory (NRL) designated by the National Government (51, 52). National Laboratories are in turn responsible for the standards maintained in any other laboratories in their own country that are involved in the National Sampling Plan program. National Reference laboratories coordinate standards and methods of analysis for each group of residues, and may undertake work on all or limited classes of the veterinary drug areas listed in Directive 86/469/EEC. [Pg.375]

They have a much more powerful effect on data relevancy and validity than errors originating from sample or population variability. In fact, a thoughtfully conducted planning process takes into account the population variability at the project site, and errors originating from sample variability are controlled by the proper implementation of the field sampling procedures. [Pg.7]

The second half of the implementation phase of the environmental chemical data collection process consists of Task 4—Laboratory Analysis and Task 5—Laboratory QA/QC. Arising from a foundation of project planning and following field sampling implementation as shown in Figure 4.1, these tasks transform the collected samples into chemical data. [Pg.183]

Exploratory sampling makes good use of field and laboratory resources, and the preliminary information is used to design more efficient sampling plans. The exploratory sample can also deal with known impact sites where quantitative data on soil properties are needed ( hot spots ). [Pg.15]

In many countries, emissions are determined by direct monitoring. In these cases the measurements should be subject to quality assessment, and the sampling plan should be evaluated to estimate the uncertainty in all steps of the procedure. To assess emissions of mixtures of chemicals, concentrations of chemicals should be measured simultaneously, but the validation procedures would be the same as for single chemicals. When emissions are estimated from data on produced, processed, or used amounts of the individual chemicals in mixtures, the calculations should be validated by measurements in the field. [Pg.10]

Changing the sample plan to reduce variability between field replicates - for example by stratified sampling or by increasing the number of increment samples that make the composite sample. [Pg.70]

For a site activity under the purview of the Removal Program, the On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) has the responsibility of preparing the site-specific Sampling QA/QC Plan. The objective of the Sampling QA/QC Plan is to ensure that field sampling efforts and analytical services will provide data of known quality [The quality of data are known when all components associated with their derivation are 0097—6156/90/0431—0082 06.00/0 1990 American Chemical Society... [Pg.88]

Extant and planned collaborative research, related to nuclear materials safety and between the universities of the consortium operating the Amarillo National Resource Center for Plutonium and various Russian institutions of higher education, is outlined. The research includes activities in the following fields sampling of airborne radionuclides, transportation of hazardous materials, safe removal and processing of nuclear materials, quality assurance practices, and disposition of weapons-grade plutonium in reactors. [Pg.207]

The field sampling QA/QC manual is also a component of the QA Project Plan and must provide guidance on policy and procedures. This manual will contribute to the quality of the data generated. [Pg.4090]

The field QA/QC strategy includes a sampling plan which serves as the central element for directing the various operational activities. To produce a truly effective sampling plan, an interdisciplinary approach is necessary. The interdisciplinary contributions assure the development of a plan that is specific and has all the requirements for successful sampling operations. [Pg.4090]

The sampling plan must consider the role of good field and laboratory practices. The basic QA/QC field testing and laboratory analytical protocols that will be adopted must be spelt out in the sampling plan. For the laboratory, the scope of both the intra- and interlaboratory QA/QC programs should be referenced, and should be consistent with the size of available resoiu ces. [Pg.4093]

Data quality objectives (DQOs) are a critical component of any project requiring the extensive collection of raw and analytical data. This was especially so with this project due to the extensive field sampling campaign (including the collection of a large number of critical field data parameters) and the importance to the health and safety of a large number of employees involved in the project sponsor s gas operations. To support this effort a detailed Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) was developed to inform and guide the project team so that data of the required quality would be produced and a clear protocol for the acceptance/rejection of data was provided. [Pg.258]

The decision on the sampling method to use is constrained by the type of information needed to answer a specific hypothesis and by the available resources (both logistical and financial). Instantaneous or time-integrated, whole water, or dissolved (filtered), one sample or replicates, and how much and what types of quality control measures will be used are all options that need to be considered as part of the sample collection plan (Alvarez and Jones-Lepp, 2010). The development of a sound sampling plan will help eliminate problems in the field and ensure a representative sample will be collected to meet the needs of the study. [Pg.175]

It is also necessary to choose the position number and size of sensors to sample the magnetic field with accuracy. As the radial component of this field is null in the median plan of the excitation coil when no flaw is present, it seems obvious to measure this component, so we can use large gain amplifiers, figure 1 shows the typical aspect of the magnetic field for a ponctual flaw when a very long excitation coil is used ... [Pg.358]
