Export performance

The progress of small-scale units has been quite impressive. Of about 1900 units in this sector, 673 are located in Maharashtra, 232 in West Bengal, 192 in Tamil Nadu, 168 in Andhra Pradesh, 129 in Gujarat, and 108 in Madhya Pradesh. Some of these units prepare basic drugs and are suppliers of raw material to other countries. The export performance of the industry is quite good. From 4.5 million in 1967-1968, it reached 12.2 million in 1970-1971. It is estimated that by 1988-1989 the industry will be able to balance its foreign trade in drugs and formulations. [Pg.182]

Export performance As Figure 3 shows, on a current dollar basis, the chemical industry has enjoyed a favorable trade surplus fora number of years (rising from 2 billion in 1968 to over 6 billion in 1978 and estimated to be 6.8 billion in 1979), contributing thereby one of the strongest components to the U. S. trade balance which, overall, is heavily negative. However, there are a number of reasons for this, apart from whatever technological advantages the U. S. may have, such as ... [Pg.27]

Export orientation of countries can be indicated by export shares. In the telecommunication equipment sector, the relation of exports of equipment and investments of domestic network operators should approximate the export share since most of the equipment in the industrialised countries under consideration are procured from domestic manufacturers (Doz 1986, p. 89). In Table 4-2 this indicator for national export share of telecommunications equipment is conq)iled for 1981 and 1993. Among the countries studied, Sweden always had the highest export compared to domestic investments, while Finland rose only in the mid-1980s above the respective figure of other industrialised countries. Both countries improved their export performances over time as a result of the world-wide mobile telephony boom. The US has the lowest export orientation with Germany and the UK lying between these two extremes. [Pg.172]

Though the type of processing required is largely dependent upon fluid composition at the wellhead, the equipment employed is significantly influenced by location whether for example the facilities are based on land or offshore, in tropical or arctic environments. Sometimes conditions are such that a process which is difficult or expensive to perform offshore can be exported to the coast and handled much more easily on land. [Pg.235]

Facilities for the treatment and compression of gas have already been described in earlier sections. However, there are a number of differences in the specifications for injected gas that differ from those of export gas. Generally there are no technical reasons for specifications on hydrocarbon dew point control (injected gas will get hotter not cooler) although it may be attractive to remove heavy hydrocarbons for economic reasons. Basic liquid separation will normally be performed, and due to the high pressures involved it will nearly always be necessary to dehydrate the gas to avoid water drop out. [Pg.259]

The above example is a simple one, and it can be seen that the individual items form part of the chain in the production system, in which the items are dependent on each other. For example, the operating pressure and temperature of the separators will determine the inlet conditions for the export pump. System modelling may be performed to determine the impact of a change of conditions in one part of the process to the overall system performance. This involves linking together the mathematical simulation of the components, e.g. the reservoir simulation, tubing performance, process simulation, and pipeline behaviour programmes. In this way the dependencies can be modelled, and sensitivities can be performed as calculations prior to implementation. [Pg.342]

The Web-based graphical user interface permits a choice from numerous criteria and the performance of rapid searches. This service, based on the chemistry information toolkit CACTVS, provides complex Boolean searches. Flexible substructure searches have also been implemented. Users can conduct 3D pharmacophore queries in up to 25 conformations pre-calculated for each compound. Numerous output formats as well as 2D and 3D visuaHzation options are supplied. It is possible to export search results in various forms and with choices for data contents in the exported files, for structure sets ranging in size from a single compound to the entire database. Additional information and down-loadable files (in various formats) can be obtained from this service. [Pg.263]

All the sections must be completed by the user and then submitted to a single administrator for addition to the database. Upon completion of the form, the user has the option of making a check submission, which processes the data and performs error checks as normal, but displays the verdict on screen for the user rather than sending the data to the administrator. A variety of errors are checked, including missing data and inconsistent data, invalid molecular structures or numeric data outside the normal range. When the user is satisfied with the form data, they can be submitted to the administrator via the export button. Upon submission, the data are stored... [Pg.112]

Abstract RISKCYCLE is an artificial word which addresses the risks associated with the global recycling streams. As part of materials like waste paper, plastic, and electronics, pollutants and chemical additives are transported abroad, e.g., they are exported to emerging and developing countries. Here these pollutants/additives can cause risks for humans and the environment especially if treatment/recycling is performed on a lower technical standard. The specific risks that can occur have been studied in an international EU-funded research program, which is the basis of this publication. [Pg.137]

The chemicals trade has gained in significance like trade as a whole. Chemicals exports have tripled since 1980 (in absolnte tnmover figures), while imports have quadmpled l Many synthesis processes, which twenty years ago were still a domain of German and European industry (e.g. organic pigments), can today be performed in India or in Asia. [Pg.38]
