The primary and secondary literature of analytical chemistry is a major source of new methods, techniques, variations of older methods, and of innovation. ACS publishes two premier journals. Analytical Chemistry and Environmental Science and Technology, that should be frequently consulted. The biennial reviews in Analytical Chemistry cover topics of interest to TEQA. There exists a host of other very relevant scientific journals and reviews such as the International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, Analytica Chimica Acta, Journal of Chromatography, Journal of Chromatographic Science, Chemosphere, and others that contain useful articles. There are books and journals devoted to analytical methods by AAS and other atomic spectrometry techniques. The bibliography provides a list of some texts on AAS. When available, standard methods of sampling and analysis should be used. The International Standard Organisation (ISO), the Comite Europeen de Normalisation (CEN) and various national bodies have published several methods for determination of airborne contaminants. Results comparable to those shown in Figure 1 can readily be achieved with most crude mixtures containing synthetic or naturally occurring peptides, using similar RPC strategies.
